I just found out that my sailor will be leaving on the 28th to fly to Japan to join the Blue Ridge crew. I am excited but very nervous. HOOYAH!!

My son has arrived yesterday!  I'm excited for him.  He texted me early 4:00am which was 7:00pm the following day stating he was jetlaged.  It's first time out the country.  This whole experience has been a big first for him. This weekend he will be visiting Tokyo.   What fun for me now is cleaning his room picking up stuff he left behind.

Hello All I am new here; my son has been assigned to USS BlueRidge after his graduation from A school Oct 31.  He is my 1st born and only son.  His first time off the continent.  However, I am thankful he is 25 yrs old. So  I expected he would leave the nest one way or another.  So I'm nervous and just need your support.

Me too Rhonda, hopefully they will be able to get in touch soon. Even though we know they are probably safe it would just be nice to have that confirmation.

PeachNavyMom, I have left messages on FB but have not heard from my son. Their FB page says that they are in recovery today, but that could change you never know. I hope I hear from him soon one way or another.

@rhonda0366:  I'm glad to hear your son likes it and has made some good friends.  Son said there are 3 others from his C school that are on board and another young man from our hometown.  We're from a town of 2100 people and to hear that 2 young men who join the Navy at different times, wind up serving on the same ship in Japan at the same time........The odds of that happening are ??? astronomical ??? -

@Bubsmom: my son loves to fish over there in Japan. He has caught some UGLY fish but enjoys it alot.

@Rock: Glad to see your son is on this ship. My son seems to like it alot and has made alot of lifelong friends. Hope your son does the same.

Son arrived on board Wednesday.  Had a call from him last night saying he arrived safely and is going thru processing.
