TY all I was there 2 weeks and I agree with Kathleen it wasn't enough time and yes you need lots of money, everything is so expensive. Advice Blondie I took all warm clothes sweaters ect. we had beautiful weather it was in the upper 50-60's and I was too warm a few days so throw in some short sleeved shirts too. Be prepared for the trains and all of the people they are soo crowded it was crazy!! I don't know if your daughter is picking you up or what but I know the kids got a rental car from base to pick us up at the airport because with the rental car they got free passes for all of the toll roads and it was cheaper to rent the car than drive there own and pay the toll roads. Here is a map of the trains to give you an idea of how crazy they were.

Yes, Patrick had called me Wed. in Conroe at my folks and said they had to do this and that and THEN they would be underway. They are prepared and ready. He said he'd be frocked the next day, so I said Happy Frocking Day! LOL. I put it on his page also to embarass him.
OK, if Danielle's boyfriend is going ALL the way to Japan to visit, it must be serious.....

I'm now home we got in late last night, my buttt is dragging right now. Japan was great we had a blast with the kids. The only Sailor we got to meet was Brett, Jonis was going to give us a tour of the ship 1 of the days but he got stuck doing something on the ship so we never got to meet him or our tour of the ship. We did see the ship from a distance in was in dry dock when we got there but brought out by the time we left.
I don't know how the kids do it but they had the train system down pat of course they have been there for 2 years so I guess they should LOL.
The trains are crazy there, they are so crowded, at least most of the time they were. Everyone uses the trains to get around there. The Toll roads cost so much. In fact the kids got a rental car to pick us up in Tokyo because with a rental car they get free passes for all of the toll roads, otherwise it would have cost at least $90 each way to and from the airport.
We took the train everywhere. The Imperial Palace was Huge 27 acres to walk through, it was pretty but I bet it's really beautiful during the spring and summer. 1 of the Shrines we went to we had 4 Japanese students from the University ask if they could be our tour guide because they were learning English and had to practice it. So it was Great we had our own tour guide for here, they explained what everything was, they had several weddings taking place while we were there at the Shrine. Then we went to see the Big Buddah this is the 2nd largest one in Japan, the 8th largest in the World.
We had a great time!! We spent 2 days at Tokyo Disney that was a lot of fun.
We had a wonderful time the weather was perfect.
It was so Hard to leave though it's always a tearful goodbye, Katie said she cried all the back home.
Hope everyone is doing well!!

Only 16 members. Interesting. Has this site not been very active in the past?
Is there a NavyforDad's? I would have thought there would be no gerderizing.....LOL
Is this where I can get answer to questions, or should I be contacting the Ombudsman? I thought that asking in a general forum would provide accurate answer as military processes remain same throughout. NOT?
A method of easy subject search in order to prevent duplicate questions?
Thank you in advance.

Thanks all. I think I have shared with you my best friend at work - her son is on the USS GW - we talk a lot. I know BR is supposedly out of dry dock, but I also know it takes a while to get things up and running.....
Yes, first the Corvette and 49 sailors, then the 100 people on the airlines, and now this. Kim Jong IL is definitely "evil".
On another note: Patrick shares with everybody, but he says he only gets to see other FC's and of course the GM's since they work closely together. work, work work. LOL
I wish everyone's kids here could meet up with him monthly and share in the goodies, I always send guys and gals stuff both. Plus, we have so many CS's on this group, I want to give away some of these mags around the house - they are really stacking up. Please write me with their names, rank, (I know the address) and I'll send them to your CS. They are from the ACI and other professional organizations.
