Here's a picture of the USS Blue Ridge next to a Slava Ship I got off the internet. I like to see different angles of her.

For those of you going to Yokosuka, you might want to go to the AECF group Mary and I are on - Millye, a dear dear friend, retells of her experience visiting there and has a lot of helpful tips for you. Wish I could go with you- but the economy will have to have much improved before I can muster (no pun intended) it!

No I didn't see that yet.
Katie said it depends on your rank as to what the award is called, she's an E-5 so it's called Junior Sailor of the Quarter, her dad told me wrong go figure LOL.

did everyone see the father's day meal prepared by the CS's? Where are our CS moms?????????? We are so proud of our ships CS's.. Ney award and all. Someone or several people are great carvers, I can see the vegetable carvings in the background and Jorge saw one of the ice carvings. He said they did a great job. (Unless it was a mold, which it didnt look like it was - it looked free carved.)

My son gave me a Blue Jacket Manual. He knows how I love Navy History (is everyone a member of the Navy History group on here???) How weird is that. I read Louis L'amour books and now reading "the face of the assasin" and then I add, "Oh by the way, I also am reading a book called the blue jacket manual" LSHIP. laughed so hard I pee'd. (and it happens to have ship in the acronym)

I'm not sure why they call it blue jacket but I do know you have to be in your Dress Blues when u go before the Board. She won Blue Jacket of the Year when she was in Italy and she got a NAM (navy achievement medal) for it.

That's Awesome Blondie thanks for sharing!!
I haven't been on in a few days and I had to go back 2 pages LOL
Kathleen I'm sad that Jonis won't be there when we go to see Katie
Katie had her 19th B-day in BC too in fact her bunk mate had the same B-day as Katie so that was cool. The last Christmas we had with Kaite was 2008.
My hubby was talking to her on Sat. while I was at work and he said that she told him she's up for Blue Jacket of the Quarter. So I'm excited for her, I hope she gets it. When she was in Italy she was up for Blue Jacket of the Year, she had to go before a Board and answer questions, she was the youngest and lowest ranked and she beat out 4 guys who were higher ranked than she was to win this. That was her first NAM she got. So I hope she does well on this one!!
