My son has been on the USS Blue Ridge going on his second year now. He lives on the ship full time. There are some that have been there a while who have apartments off the ship.

I have a question.  When assigned to the Blue Ridge do the sailors live on the ship all the time or do they have a barracks they stay in when they're not deployed?

My son will be joining in march as well. I was like Rock and peachynavy Pretty excited for him. Seems to be an honor to be chosen for this assignment

My son is an IT. He will be joining the USS Blue Ridge this March. He is very excited, one of the first places he wanted to go with the Navy was Japan. I am... ok, happy for him, proud so proud of him, as his mom worried, but as he says I would worry just as much if he was down the street in college. He is right sorta, LOL. So, how are things aboard?

My son is an IS and will be reporting to the Blue Ridge in April.  He is so excited and I thought I was going to have a panic attack when I heard his orders but I'm doing much better now.  My son had a choice of a stateside duty but chose Japan because he joined the Navy "to see the world."

Thank you!  My son is an IT.  It's nice to have fellow moms who already have kids on the ship to talk to.

Hello! My son is getting ready to leave for Japan and the USS Blue Ridge in a couple of weeks. He is really excited. I'm just nervous. This is his first duty station. Glad to find this group!

If they are deployed it might take longer. We mailed a box to my son and since they are out to sea, it took a couple of weeks. He finally got it.
