OMG Kathleen, Patrick told me about the mooring lines and what happened. I hope Jonis will be all right.

Gosh I hope Jonis's hand will be OK it sounds like he was very lucky and yes someone was watching out for him. Katie did tell me about the line breaking but not about Jonis. did you read that link I posted 2 pages ago? In sapporo, they are washing dishes and serving tea? I hope its inside! LOL. So glad Patrick's being macho about the cold! When we had our "mom and me" camp out. It was 20 degrees in Chattanooga at the Boy Scout Camp on top of the mountains. I actually cried when they made me put out my fire before I went to bed. I wasn't a trooper! My teeth chattered all night, I was so miserable. He was fine...

In Otaru, I guess they took a 30 min train ride to Sapporo to the ice festival. Molly, where was that mall - in sapporo?

Patrick said they had a mooring line break, after they took care of that, an alarm went off and there was water in his ammunition room, he had to take care of that. Snow was so bad, they couldn't see the parking lot or the ship 50 yards away behind them.

I finally heard from Katie a few mins ago, she said Mom I have never seen anything like this, she said it's been snowing like crazy!! She said yesterday she had on 4 pairs of socks and her feet were still freezing, she said first thing most of them did was hit the mall looking for warm clothes and boots. She said man mom I'm not used to this I'm a California Girl LOL, I said yes you are!! She said by the time they headed to the ice festival they were all soo cold they only saw a little bit then went back to the ship.

Sorry if this is a repeat post. http://www.navy.mil/search/display.asp?story_id=51120. Was 2 days ago I think.
One of the pictures on mil/navy describes a picture as
"light the 1B boiler as Blue Ridge transits the Tsugaru Straits. "

So I'm thinking, yeah, ya'll need to LIGHT THE BOILER!!!!! Kristina's freezing!
Thanks for telling whats been going on last couple of days.
