For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I just got a message from the professor. Did your sailors tell you about the History college courses and Japanese Language courses they were taught on the ship? He is amazing! Let me go get what he said.

USPS is the only way u can mail them stuff. If u mail anything try to use flat rate boxes, these are free from the postoffice, they only come in I think 4 different sizes, but u can put as much weight as u want and it only costs the flat rate to mail. This is priority mail too.
Always use Priority mail because it takes longer to get there otherwise
I mail Katie things and it takes about a week to get there but that's because I live in CA. Hope this helps.

I have the FC video with him in it on my FB page, (but you have to totally mute the music, its offensive) and its also on You Tube. There is a USS BR video of the week that has him in it 3 times. doing CPR on a dummy!!! LOL

I do go to yokosukabase.com at least once a week and read. its a great site. I don't talk or post much but they have very important information concerning the base. I just got news - my sailor is trying out for the Yokosuka Seahawks. They have been having practice and for those of you who know him or have met him, he's a big kid and joined the Navy instead of taking a Midwestern football scholarship. so I thought whew, thank goodness. I couldn't take more football injuries. Oh well. He is excited just for doing the drills.

Did not know about the medical advance directive. I still have Patrick's flight info of who he flew with on the plane to boot camp. Jeremy ended up being the honor student. His sister was a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader, and he thought that was SOOOOOOOOo cool!

Did Robert cook for you? LOL. My husband is cooking a fresh ham for Thanksgiving, a recipe passed down from his father in Brazil. They make holes in the fresh ham and stuff olives deep down inside. No cherry glaze or sweet stuff for him, it is savory and aromatic. Yumm. Can't wait. Spending quality time alone with him instead of going to the relatives this year. Don't think I could deal, holidays are emotional missing my sailor.

april of 08 several of us moms did the camera and microphone thing and somebody was always needing technical help (70% me) and it totally took up all our visiting time trying to work out the kinks, find out why something wasn't working, etc. I'd hate to do that again with such precious few minutes to spend.

Just chatted on FB with mine. Told him I was envious that all of ya'll got calls, and he said, "there's nothing for me to talk about because you know everything thats already happening from the other moms and FB group."
Well, he's missing the point, isn't he ladies! LOL

I know I've asked Katie if the Navy was the right decision for her and she said yes mom it is. She says I see my friends doing the same thing as when I left them 3 1/2 years ago and they are going nowhere. In her 3 1/2 years Katie has seen and done so much, I mean how many 22 year olds can say they spent 2 yrs. in Italy and now she's in Japan on a ship seeing the World. It can't get much better than that!! That's why she joined the Navy was to see the World and that's exactly what she's doing and loving every min. of it!!

Katie said that she had never seen so many ships at once during an exercise, she said every direction she looked she saw ships!! I love all of the pics they posted plus the ones that were on the other ships FB page. I love seeing them all!!
