Hi All, last time I was on hear was late January. I'm sure like me you have all heard from your sailors. What a wonderful gift on Valentines day but to talk to my son for almost 2 hours. I now know to not expect to hear much from him after these last 45 days. I'll learn won't I? Hope all your sailors are doing well and they stay safe....Katie

You're not the only Mom. My son told me that there would be about 30 days while they were out that they would not be able to call or email. The internet service is sporatic in certain areas I guess. He wasn't sure exactly when it would be so I'm guessing this is the time because the emails have also stopped for me too.

Am I the only Mom with a sailor on the USS Carter Hall not getting any emails? I got one almost daily since Christmas then almost 2 weeks ago they stopped. Is this normal or should I be worried?

Just wanted to say Hi! My son flys out tonight to meet the ship. He joined the Navy in February...went through BUDS..dropped from pneumonia....did SAR school and is going undesignated. This my first one to leave home...missing him already. Thank goodness he was able to spend Thanksgiving with us. I drove down yesterday and picked his truck up and brought it home. Would love to know what there deployment schedule is and if anyone has a good address...I would love that to so I can get a Christmas package on its way! Hope to hear from anyone soon!

Sandy - yes that helps! Thank you very much. Jake actually leaves tonight to meet the ship in their next port. He's nervous and extremely exciting. Looks like I better finish getting things together then.....thanks again.

Ya, we have a special relationship (including snowballs), and I'm so thankful for that. She has really gained so much confidence and pride in the short time she's been in - it's a remarkable change for the best. Even tho she hasn't been able to follow her original plan, she's had some great experiences since she's been in. She's not typically on the Carter Hall, but one of the smaller crafts that went down there with it. I'm glad she's happy, and I hope the same is true for your son.

yes, Jenda, it is nice. She had asked to be stationed in Japan... I admit I'm relieved she wasn't posted there right off the bat. She very much enjoys the Norfolk area & having her just a few hours away is very nice. Even tho she's older (27), I wouldn't want her half way around the world just yet. She's only been in the Navy since last May... a late bloomer? For every time she's complained of being hot, I have stashed another snowball in the freezer for her! :o)
