@ccnavymom i agree about the hair color products! lol
They will get all their boxes a the same time - food party!! I have another one im sending today!Should have been yesterday but never got out the house! B is competing in the Biggest Looser comp onboard and she has lost 6 lbs since being onboard she is not over weight just wants to firm up lol So all the snacky stuff I have sent she may not want by the time it gets there lol Oh well pass it on to your fellow sailors!! She will! lol
@ Cheffiona Glad to hear B surgery is done and she is doing well. Hopefully she will be back to normal soon.
My post office said that the FPO stand for Fleet Post Office and APO is Air Post office. He also said the zipcode is for where the military sorts everything - he was pretty sure FPO goes thru West Coast(Frisco?) - and APO goes thru New York. He wasn't sure what the other number was for. He said the USPS just get the packages to the FPO or APO and then the military sorts from there. Must be a lot of boxes and letters to sort ! Eventually they will meet up with the ship.
Heard from my son early today - email - he couldn't believe that it has been a month either - hopefully the next ones will go by quickly too. He said the internet has been sporatic. He did hear that they(the ship) will get there 'mail' when they get to next port - and there is a lot. So hopefully the next boxes will meet them at their destination.
wow Military USPS said that. that blows my understanding way out of the water. I was under the impression that FPO meant floating post office and it's for any of the ships the AP means the Pacific corridor. Which could include Japan and a bunch of other places. I would hate to think that the military sends everything to Japan first then redirects it. But wasn't sure where they sorted it at. Maybe that is why even in SD it took so long to get boxes to my son. But on the up side not all of Japan was effected as badly as others. I mailed a box to my son and an AF friend of his stationed in Japan on the same day. The friend has gotten his and he's 200 miles north of the Sendai area. But he had an APO, (Army/Air Post office) AP address.
I've seen on other ship's site that they are only allowed fb on "non .mil hours" I'm guessing that means when they are not on duty which would make sense. If it stands for something else please let me know.
@cheffiona glad B surgery is behind her and that she can get usage of the computers.
@NavyNana wow a month already this time last month was on board checking it out some more lol! Seems just like yesterday! Well 1 one and the rest to go! Well im sure that is the delay if its in Japan! They will get them eventually!
Glad your getting emails!
Good morning! Just fb with B. Surgery done! and she s feeling ok under the influence of meds, just a little pain but upbeat and went to go read for awhile and maybe nap a little if she can she said she is in pattern of when and how long she sleeps but will try to get some extra! Also has lost 6 lbs since being on board lol all that exercise she is getting! Internet was up this am so B took advantage at least I know the surgery went well! I can relax now! Stamps would be a good thing to send sailors the store is out I will put some in the package im sending today! oh well 4am im awake now lol! might aswell get up!
Have a great day all and hope you all get to hear from your sailors!
@Michelle.. sounds like they will get a good taste of home when the boxes arrive. I'm glad you had fun making them. Erik has always enjoyed the ones' I've sent him I send mostly apple crisp's now. (the pie filling without the crust & some vacuum sealed pkgs of crisp) as he said he preferred them that way. I've also send brownies in a jar last time round. He enjoyed any bit of "home cooked" he can get and they do well in the jars ..stay fresh, don't dry out, etc.
@kab last time out they did have little parties/celebrations from time to time, what ever they could do to try to upbeat morale, so they might of or will have ice cream socials.
@cheffiona. Hope B's surgery goes well. Glad she's getting signals to communicate with us all in a way.
