@Michelle. The way I understand the mail is that they might get it at port but the "flagship" might get it first if they are out with a group, especially if the flagship gets to port first or instead of the smaller ships in the group. The Flagship, in this case the Boxer, might put it on a smaller boats or a helio and send to the smaller ships in the group. I doubt they would make a special trip just for mail but they might. If the ship/Flagship changes it's plans and adds or subtracts a port the mail might or might not get the message in time. Boxes took 3-6 weeks to get to my son last "cruise".
I think we can say where they have been but it's probably not a good idea to use dates or where we think they might be going. The USN & USMC admits they are in the 7th fleet's jurisdiction on their websites. Which let's face it is Millions of square miles of water.
I have not heard any rumors about pay. If they are smart, military pay is not something they want to withhold...but my opinion is that the govt is not always smart.
I & son have Verizon, although I have "dumb" phone, when I looked into International calls for the last cruise, it was not smart then to leave it in service, He has a smart phone now but I don't know if the "web capability" he could of gotten internationally would be financially feasible. Different countries have different per minute charges. But that was 2 years ago and I didn't really check it out this time, just put it on a Military suspension.
If Bridgette is getting a signal..good for her, probably makes her feel less "homesick".
Can anyone tell me if they have offical word about the military not being paid in April due to the US Budget? My daughter in law called a little upset that some of the other wives in San Diego have heard that they will not get paid in April due to the budget. It sounds a little wierd to me since the budget for this fiscal year 7/2010 to 6/2011 was done last year and the US government should be working on next fiscal years budget, but I told her I would ask you all to see if anyone knows anything.
We can say where the ship has been, right?
@ElaneL thank you yes we will try and work out something!
As for the cell phones on saturday before deployment bridgette got herself an iphone and it was added to her hubbys and family plan I guess they the everything plan so it is a good deal and she also added an international plan which covers most of the places she will be or in the area of and dont know when hubby will see the first bill including her on it but She got the $49 dollar iphone 3g with att and i have been with tmobile of about 7 years now and since she was at A school my phone bill especially since they were living in san diego was an extra 70$ a month(kept going over my minutes) so after she left I looked into the same deal and i quit tmobile and also got the iphone its amazing and she pays for all the calls and texts she sends to me and i have not used any of my minutes as its all free cell to cell!
She had cell service last night!
