@Beth & Michelle happy to be able to help.
The ship store Might have paper and envelopes.
Mine has a laptop on board but I doubt they can hook them online, the ship keeps pretty good tabs on what they can access thru their computers, last time out my son claims they could not web surf, so depending on which bank they have they might not get access. But I see they have fb access authorized this time so maybe they can get a few more things. Cell phone signals if available could be pricey as they are in International waters. I know my son's phone is shut off til he gets back to USA range.
@Fiona. hope you and hubby's health continues to improve, keep up the good work on weight loss, carefully tho. I understand the lack of Med Insurance issue don't have any myself and that can be a bad thing. Sometimes Hospitals will work out deals with you as far as payments or discounts if you pay by certain times, check with them.
@navynana thanks! Bridgette has her laptop with her but uses it for computer games and movies not netflix just the ones she took with her and you can buy them from the store on board!! But she does use the ships computers for email and fb! You can I assume when you have a signal check your bank account from your cell, I know when chatting with her on fb yesterday there were issues she/me was having as she could not see what I was typing lol! It resolved itself lol! I just leave computer on all day now as I never know when she will be able to get on fb and chat! But she is doing good! Watching movies, playing her DS games and listening to her ipod! Waiting for her packages 5 more from me and her hubby just mailed one yesterday I told her she will probably get them all at once lol! But has now finished all the goodies in the first package that she did get lol!
Hope you are all hearing from your sailors!
Do any of your sailors have their own laptops? Are they able to use them for email and fb? can they download net flix?? or check their bank accounts?
@Fiona - better days are ahead and I am so sorry that both you and your hubby have had health issues. Sounds like you are both on the mend. Good news.
@navynana he is not now the day we left to come to san diego for her deployment was the friday before so we could a decal for my truck so as to go on base and we were nearly to san diego and had stopped for food and i got tons of calls from hubbies boss and he had collapsed due to a seizure (epileptic) and he was not found for an hour and he had fallen backwards and hit his head to they took him to the hospital but they released him later in the day after all the tests had been done he is on different meds now and went back to work 24th feb he waited until i got back from san diego which was after the ship deployed and we got stuff from hotel and drove back to nevada! Bridgettes hubby drove so we got home real quick lol!! But all is well! But we have no health insurance so it sucks!
And my meds seem to be working for the blood pressure and the diabetes! Although they have upset my stomach and have lost 6 1/2 lbs since friday!! lol
Makes it now 86 1/2 lbs lost now got about 50 more to go!
I chat with her on fb and we email and is doing ok! Working hard and enjoying her down time! Dont ya just love the technology we have today being able to chat when the other person is off somewhere in the world! I not sending letters really as by the time she gets them it will be old news but family members and friends can write because not all of them can chat with her online! And until she gets the paper and envelopes I sent her she will not be able to reply! lol
Finally got hubbies hospital bill! $1,305 I think the ambulance bill is still to come well I have to say much cheaper than I expected!
