This was posted my another mother ....

You know when your soldier is deployed when ....

1. You sleep with your cell phone on your pillow

2. You use an entire bottle of his cologne so you can smell him around you

3. You get nervous every time the phone rings or you hear a knock at your door

4. The shoes he left in the middle of the room are now oddly comforting

5. The  postal clerk knows you by name

6. You buy beef jerky everytime you go to the grocery store

7. You check your e-mail every 5 minutes, including in the middle of the night

8. You have enough priority boxes, packing tape and customs forms for his entire unit

9. You have a ton of friends with deployed soldiers you've never actually met because they're all online

10. You don't just tie a yelow ribbon around a tree outside, you tie one around your heart

Never got an email form the ombudsman -- guess myself and my daughter are not contacts for my son -- not quite sure who he put.

Did get an email from him and they are okay but couldn't say where they were going - even though it was in an article.

I also had a hard time finding fb link for Boxer and GreenBay but eventually found it.

@ Michelle - send me your email address on  N4M message and I'll get it to you.  Glad you heard from your son. You sleep so much better.

I didn't mean to confuse any of you with the note about signing up for Google alerts, mine has been working for a year or so, On my main email account NOT Navy for Moms.   I set up an additional one for ""USS Comstock""  and have gotten a few different ones from that alert. This time I know it ask me for how often I wanted updated daily, weekly, as happens, etc.

The quotes define the exact words you want the search engine, in this case Google alerts, to look for.  I believe it came back right away with the verify or cancel part email to my regular email.  I don't understand enough about computers to know what the issue with your computers is. Things you might try are the copy and paste the entire link of the verify part to the box of the top of the screen instead of just clicking on it?  the link might carry over to another line and clicking on it you are just getting part of it. Or do you have your security settings set too high and the browser IE or my case Mozilla Firefox is blocking them?

Them entering 7th Fleet area was info that was released by the Navy several days ago.  Keep in mind ladies that 7th fleet is several million square miles of Ocean bordered by the Int'l dateline to Eastern Africa and down towards NE of Japan.

Sometimes the alerts that come in are from a news article from several years ago, like one the other day was talking about the first ship named USS Comstock and agent orange in Vietnam.. so you just have to sort through it sometimes and be picky about what you want to view.   Navy news has brought up some interesting things as well.  You do have to trial and error on that one to narrow down what you want.  there is a picture section on that one that in the past has shown some nice pix of the ship.

I haven't been able to find a fb site for the Boxer or GreenBay, but I did join their N4M sites... any info that might be pertinent will be helpful.

Welcome to the new members.. I've sent out some notes to Mom's that had sailors on the ship from the last "cruise" to see if they want to come check out the group if their sailors are still onboard.

The Omsbudsmen seem very in tune with what is happening. They have loved ones on the ship as well and have been trained by the Navy to help us and will pass on any info they can as soon as they can.
