Hi everyone....It is hard to believe it is already October...in some ways time has flown by and other times it just drags.  I was able to Skype with my son on their last port stop.  It was so good to see him, I was so shocked to see him...we kept losing connection but I would wait for him to come back on...it was so worth it...He had his laptop and it was priceless.  I you want to get your sons something for Christmas and if he doesn't have one, I would definitely suggest to get him his own laptop....Can't wait to see him in person!!!!

Thanks Carolyn for the info.  I have heard from my son a couple of times by email.  My husband has also got a few e-mails. I don't know if it is because he has his laptop with him or not.  He says he is very busy and has little time to write...needs to sleep and eat between working... We keep him informed of what is happening on the home front..especially sporting scores and events...I am sending him a package this week.  I  haven't heard from him for about two days now, so I think he is just too busy...I understand that...but I do miss him and I will...what do mothers do best...worry about their children!!!  I know in my heart he is going to be just fine.  He is a proud Sailor I can tell he is proud of himself...as I am of him.

I got my son's email address yesterday from him.  He did say he hasn't gotten seasick yet which is really good.  He said he works, sleeps and eats, no time for TV although he wants us to keep in informed about football season...Oh and yes he did ask for some goodies to be sent, which I plan on doing this week.   As time goes on I miss him so much but I know he will see some beautiful countries that he would not have had the opportunity to ever see.  I am so proud of him and his shipmates.  God Bless them all and may the always be safe.

Hi CherBear. What is your sons rate? Mine is an OS. I miss my son so much too. I sure hope it does get better. The spouses have told me it does get better just keep busy and time will pass quickly. I have heard from my son twice since deployment and he sounds tired. He gave me his email address before leaving. I do like to have some contact. Hang in there everybody we can make it together!

Hi,  I am a proud new Navy mom with so many questions, I don't know where to begin.  I don't want to ask a bunch of questions here unless it is safe to do so.  I don't want to say or write anything that might not be appropriate. Mostly I am interesting in the communication...email addresses, sending letters, packages and the such.

Hi carolyn K. My son just reported to the DeWert a couple of weeks ago. He was so nervous before going there but everybody has made him feel comfortable. I am very thankful for that. I am lucky that we get to talk often and dread when we wont be able to talk as much.

I would be interested in hearing about everybody else on the DeWert.

Hi Shirley,
The best advice I can give is to call Geico. Seriously. Because they have an entire division devoted to the military. They understand our particular needs. For instance... long term storage of your vehicle and things like that. I dont want to sound like a commercial... but i really did save money on our auto insurance, plus they always thank us for our service... which is a nice touch.
