Got to FT with the Hubby today!! So great to see his face again. The best part was his reaction to seeing our daughter for the first time other than his daily pictures! Seeing him talking to her was the best part.

My son messaged me this morning and said the base was much better today and not so busy. He said he was headed out in town and I've not heard from him since. Interested to hear what he thinks of the place as he's been very upbeat in the last too ports but yesterday he wasn't sounding very impressed. Hopefully today he finds something that peaks his interest since he's off the base.

I'm at a Naval base in Bahrain! A country not far from Iraq/Iran

Mommaross ~ stay strong!  Everyone does not get frequent calls, texts or emails from their sailor.  Heck the last time I heard from mine was a week ago but before that was 4 weeks.  And as mine wrote, they will finally get to see the sun after 40 days (work nights and sleeps in the daylight hours).  I'm sure he's thinking of you.  And very busy too.  So during the hard times, remember "NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS"!    Yeah, it's cheesy BUT it is the truth.  And besides you can rant and rave to us :-)

I know I shouldn't feel bad but I do :).  I know my son's shore buddy had shore leave yesterday because he posted a pic on FB.  But I haven't hear from my son - I've emailed him to ask if he's on shore leave or not and I've messaged him on FB but nothing.  I know they have better things to do than worry about MOM back home and I know he's probably enjoying himself.  He could however, be busy working and not have shore leave.  He does have a desk with a computer, but he still only sends us one email every 10 days or so anyway.  Just want to hear his sweet voice - if only for 2 mins :). 

Really, really happy for all you getting messages and phone calls though - that makes up for me not hearing :)

Dad - I wondered the same thing to be honest. Maybe because it is more a routine port for the 5th fleet area of responsibility? It isn't too special in terms of ports, from what I've read and heard from my Dad (retired chief), it is a port that always happens and happens several times in that area.

I had a 40 min FaceTime chat at 12:45am this morning with my son.  He scanned the outside of the hotel and I saw nothing but sand and a few other buildings.  He said he'll go to the NEX to stock up on stuff and he's participating in a 5K on Thursday.  Other than that, he's staying on the ship.  He's already looking forward to their next port visit.

Just reread my last post...that wasn't meant to scold you Anita, your post is fine. Just wondering out loud why the Navy and ship have not posted anything yet as they normally do it the same day they pull in.
