Heatherose, they are not actually in the same berthing, but they are the only female berthing (and just 3 of them) at the back of the ship and all the surrounding berthings are being occupied by contractors.  Then she was REALLY mad because whoever is in charge of their berthing area wouldn't let them put some kind of security lock on their area.  Don't know if she raised enough cain to get that changed or not.

Marcia....LOVED the poem.  Katlanta, those poor guys :-(  That probably IS a rather discusting shower.  Kelcie isn't thrilled with her berthing situation either.  Primarily because it is smack dab in the middle of a bunch of the male "contractors" and she is NOT feeling very secure.  But she's a smart cookie and has taken a couple of steps to keep her and her 2 berth mates safer.  I missed a phone call from her today.  I was SO mad at myself for turning my phone off at work.  From now on, I don't care HOW much trouble I get in,  that sucker is staying turned on :-)  Have gotten a couple of emails from her also.

Kathy16 thank you for the info.  I will give that a try.  I still have not heard from my sailor and this not knowing is driving me crazy!  I guess i'll throw some body wash in the care package going out this week LOL.

I am so grateful to have you all as friends it helps knowing we are all in the same ship (pun intended) LOL

God Bless you all, and Marcia Dickey love the poem

I am really confused!  Can we still send packages or not?? I have like 300 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies I was going to send them, then the earthquake, then them pulling out of port...does anyone know where they are heading?  I haven't heard from my sailor since 3 days after the quake.

I did read that the ship is no longer taking relief blankets and that they should be sent to one of the Japanese addresses.  I'm not sure where I read it ... CFAY, GWOmbudsman, Naf Atsugi ... one of those pages on FB.  I read too many and my head swims.

cfsnowmom, I'm sure that the info that BigDMom posted a couple of comments below is correct.  I used the same address for Kelcie whether she was in port, or out to sea.  The post office sends all military mail to a specific place, then the military sorts and sends it on to wherever the service member is, based on that APO/FPO information.

NavyMa, thanks so much for the news link!  So much to take in, just glad our sailors are safe.  Everything so terribly sad.  I am so praying for all families to leave as quickly as possible and be safe.  I am beside myself, waiting for Ant's girlfriend to leave the country, the 24th.  I could not have transported myself alone to airport w/o her.  Please keep praying for our families to relocate safely and keep any news updates flowing.  Appreciate you all!

cfsnow, I imagine that you would still use the address your daughter had. I asked my g'daughter, who has been evacuated from Atsugi, what her new address would be and she said the same as before. So long as it is an FPO/APO address you will need customs forms.

Glad to hear all the updates.  Sherrill, winavymom$, said it so well, right now, I am taking that advice also.  I so hope the best for your daughter.  I know she will be so glad to come home, and dogs and all, it is so helpful to be with those who love you in tough times.  Sandra, thanks for the recent update.  I check here first for updates as just trying to decompress myself and get back to normal.  So glad to see my son but sad it was so short, but thankful for anytime.  And thanks to all of you and your support!  My heart goes out to the GW family and may they soon have stability and as much normalcy as possible.
