It definitely sounds like Calvin was indeed a true "Leader". I think so many people today put the emphasis on "managing people" instead of leading them. He sounds like a rare and wonderful person indeed.
abc, I do tend to agree, about this one "being a keeper". He has covered every base imaginable for my upcoming surprise trip. I emailed his mom right away and told her to get on fb. Don't know if she checks it regularly, but didn't want her to miss out on the great news.

on a happier note, yay to mollie! i'm so glad kelcie's bf is getting recognized for his hard work and it seems like this one's a keeper! :)

Calvin's family will be in my thoughts and prayers. It seems that his mother is facing one of the most difficult things a mom could face.

Mollie, BZ to your daughter's BF. That is certainly great news and I am sure you are glad to see her BF being recognized by he administration.

Yes please tell us what part of the ship company he was in and what happened. My sailor and his GF recently departed the boat for "land duty" and would like to tell them both.

Soooooooo sad, but like honeybee says, a part of him continues on, through the lives that he touched so deeply. PRAYERS to his family, as they deal with this horrible decision and loss :(

My daughters boyfriend Rob was chosen as Sailor of the day for the 9th. Now I know that he is good at even more than being a boyfriend :-) He has certainly impressed me, glad to see that he impresses others also.

Hey, Sue and Navy Ma, I know that kayaking and swimming are less expensive than flying but stamina is not my strong suit these days. Many thanks for the chuckles!

Carolina, I think it is wonderful that your daughter does such special things for your birthday. Enjoy them and be sure to let her know how much you enjoy them. I hope your birthday was very pleasant!

cfsnowmom....is it not the most wonderful feeling, to have our adult children touch our hearts SO deeply!!! So, so happy for you. It makes all the waiting in the world worth it all doesn't it. Your post brought me such an overwhelming feeling of love. It's amazing how they grow into adults so quickly when we are not there to see the day to day changes. Thank you SO much for sharing with us!
