No solid date for the F&F cruise, but probably the 1st week or so of November. Just checked out ticket prices. From N. Calif $950.00 round trip...ouch. But Christmas time is even worse looked about Dec20-Jan3rd and its running JUST shy of $1500.00.....DOUBLE OUCH. But if she can get the time, we'll get the "dime".

Hello ladies, grateful for all the updates. Soooo excitied, got a line from my sailor. So glad u ladies told me about the email deletes bc he had important papers forwarded to him and we resent things. Would not have known w/o u. Mollie, Millye, and Sue, I am trying to save up now for a Spring Japan trip. Please keep me updated. I, too, greive for those we have lost, as we all do, it makes us cherish our own even more. God bless those families.

Millye...either place would be a wonderful place to meet up and enjoy each other's company. If I did go for the F&F day, my hubby couldn't go at that time. Plus Kelcie's boyfriend is wanting to surprise her with our presence, so I would need to enlist his help in getting her to take some leave time while I was there, without telling her why. Still just tossing the pro's and con's around.
abc...you are totally right, I also heard that their whole address books were deleted, so anyone out there who was affected by this, email your sailor so that they have the address to write back. Otherwise you might be waiting a LONG time to hear from them :)

Great photos, Ginnylynn! You caught on of the Prowler, my g'daughter's plane.

I wonder if they will do it this year, given that the date for return is so up in the air. I have heard of dates all over the fall.

BDmom, I mentioned CSA travel insurance. The company was recommended to me by a travel agent with whom I was working. She has worked with the company and has been impressed with their service. I looked at their cancel for any reason policy and it appears to refund 100% and it costs roughly 10 percent of the cost of the trip. Now the company does ask age of travelers so I suspect insurance for me would be higher than for someone younger.

Looks like we could have a party in March in Japan! I guess if the GW pulled out on us we could keep each other company. Okay, it's not the same as seeing your sailor but better than being on your own. :-)

one more thing ladies, about the sailor's emails being deleted...it turns out that their whole address book is gone as well. so, they don't have ANYONE'S email addresses unless they have them memorized. thanks and sorry to keep commenting and "flooding" your inbox w/ updates :)

bigDmom, i purchased insurance that gives you back 70%. it's a "cancel for any reason"...but i know someone mentioned there is one that gives a full refund. it's posted somewhere on here, probably a few pages back. will try to find it.

We were looking towards a spring trip also, but I don't know, this looks like a pretty awesome thing to get to take part in. I may have to re-think this. My sailors boyfriend is actually wanting to surprise her by having us show up there, as it's real close to her birthday, but I would want her to be able to have at least a few days off while we were there so we could spend time together. Don't know how I could manage that, if we were a "surprise". hmmmmmm

Wish they would have a "friends and family day" in the Spring. That's when I want to go for a visit.
