hello again everyone! well, to BigD: the 815 in my username is my bday. :)

to sueS: my sailor calls me from the ship's payphone whenever they are out to sea. it is expensive and sometimes there are lines for the phone, so we email everyday, but he manages to call here and there.

to everyone else, any new news on this "gang" situation? again, i think it is just overexaggerated because my sailor would have told me if it was anything to worry over. but if someone decides to look into it, please share! :)

and to dac, if you want any port info, feel free to message me in private.

okay... so i'm going to fess up. yes, i know the latest update of the gw and i fly outta the states to see my sailor soon!

Claudia, I get notices on my email, but hadn't been getting them the last couple of days for some reason. At the bottom of the comment box you will see an icon of a little envelope that gives you the option to "stop following" be sure you haven't clicked on that icon if you want email notifications.
Sue, we get a call from Kelcie every couple of weeks or so. They are "ship to shore" calls and there is a small time delay and sometimes very "staticky". I know they are VERY expensive, so I sent her some ship to shore phone cards in her last care package. Speaking of care packages, aside from the "usual" snacks n such, I have started sending something "silly" in every package. It has been a REAL hit with Kelcie. One time I sent big red wax lips, the last package I sent a couple of squirt guns. I have also started including an issue of one of the magazines that she always enjoyed reading. She has started telling me that my packages are "the shitz" :>) so thought I would pass the info along.

Sandra, thanks for the link to the video, I have emailed my son to ask where he is located on deck to see if I can spot him. He is 6' 4" so I should be able to spot him if he gives me a general location. I sure do appreciate all the great information ya'll post on this site. It helps to know everyone is dealing with similar issues, like no calls coming in at certain times and less emails at those times too. Sent emails to a few of you to find out where they are headed, hadn't heard back though. I got an email that he received his care boxes and he said it felt like Christmas.

Thanks Judi for the advice. I try to only tell him the good news from back home. And I send 2 packages every 2 weeks. So hopefully I'm doing it right but it seems as soon as he leaves everything in the house decides to breakdown.lol

hi everyone. just wanted to let y'all know that i got a call tonight from my sailor. i asked him about this "gang" and he says it's just a joke. he says there is a group of filipino sailors that always hang out together, therefore the sailors joke that they're the "filipino mafia". i asked if they were dangerous in any way and my sailor laughed saying, "no! it's just a joke!" i would HOPE that the gw would never allow something like this to take place on their ship. other than that, i hear that everyone is working pretty hard lately. the sea is starting to get to my sailor...he says there are days when it's hard to look at the same people everyday, doing the same thing everyday and not get frustrated. so let's remember to keep their spirits up when we communicate w/ them! and as Judi Hine mentioned, send them packages! they love it and it gives them something to look forward to! even sending small, inexpensive gifts every few days or so is easy to do and cheap! :) ok, bedtime for me. nite everyone!

Hello ladies. Finally got an email from Ant and this was a real email. I was so excited. cfsowmom, so sorry to hear about your sailor w/mono. I so hope for a quick recovery for her. Yes, ladies I agree w/u, not a good thing about "gang group". Where on FB did u year? I don't like the sound of that either. What would be the options to bring this to the attention of someone of influence? Hope all ur sailors are doing well. It is a comfort to read this site. I appreciate u all.

Hi ant'smom....I know what you mean, this site is really a God send. Such an awesome group of ladies. Do you have a facebook account? If not, I highly recommend it. The GW posts pictures almost every day on their FB page, so if you become their "friend" you get those! It really helps to feel connected. Of course, I think all us moms scour those pic's looking for our sailor. A few have commented on here when they "found" theirs among the photos. It's exciting for all of us when one of the moms succeeds in the "where's my sailor" hunt :>)

Hello, Navy Moms/Families. Have not commented on the site for quite awhile. I appreciate all the postings as I keep up just to feel like I have a better idea of happenings on the carrier. My son, Anthony, is IC3, first on the Kitty Hawk and now GW. This Sept. will be 3 years for him. I miss him a lot. Have not seen him in almost 2 years. Quick 1 liners periodically is all I receive. Mollie, I sent you a friend request for info about next port. I am pushing Ant for a phone call next port, any heads up would be appreciated. Reading your posts keeps me going. You are all the best. I know the carrier is huge but wish I could find someone whose sailor knows Anthony, IC3.

Hi all, I also know where their next port will be, but don't know exactly when. Once again, the "hotel reservations" gave me the info. If anybody hasn't already found out from Lisa or abc, I can get the info to you privately via "friend" also. Gotta admit, if it was my son on board, I would not be in NEARLY as regular communication either. It does help that my sailor is a girl. Natalie....your son needs a swift kick in the %&@#&% :>) I'm guessing that he's feeling "safe" beings that he's so far away. I regularly "sic" Kelcie on some of her guy friends that I find out aren't keeping in touch with their moms the way they should be. She said that some of them listen, and some of them blow her off. At least I can try }:( Hang in there Natalie, wouldn't it be nice to turn the tables on them, but somehow, we just CAN"T bring ourselves to do that.
