MERRY CHRISTMAS !
Today...I wish you a day of ordinary miracles-
A fresh pot of coffee you didn't have to make yourself.
An unexpected phone call from an old friend.
Green stoplights on your way to work or shop.
I wish you a day of little things to rejoice in...
The fastest line at the grocery store.
A good sing along song on the radio.
Your keys right where you look.
I wish you a day of happiness and perfection-little
bite-size pieces of perfection that give you the funny feeling that the Lord is
smiling on you, holding you so gently because you are someone special
and rare.
I wish You a day of Peace, Happiness and Joy.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour
to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to
forget them.
Dee....Yes, your right this was a tight group of people and made lots of friends from here.
I have to tell you that I made a quilt for my new grandson from scrapes I had left over from all the pillowcases we made for the ship on that last deployment. It was fun pulling out all the scrapes of pirate fabric.
Jody I miss this group of gals lol my younger sons ship is so boring no one talks.. my older son is no longer on GB.. but he has lots of friends and we still are a close bunch of people from this ships last deployment.. just trying to help and great ideals ladies :)
I'd be very careful on buying over the counter med's and sending them to sailors.. my son would not take anything with out navy's permission.. just saying
We are getting our son an I-Tune gift card. Think of things like cough medicine and vitamins. I know my son does not like to go to medical and this way he can get a little relief. Their space is so limited that any bulky items just won't do. Magazines and a good book are nice as well. And my son has been asking for batteries. Last year I sent him a handheld battery operated fan. He absolutely loved it. It got taped to the ceiling in his department and was their " ceiling fan." Remember they are in hot climates so things like chocolate will melt.
My son is no longer on the GB, but have been through a number of deloyments.
Neccesities are always a must. Have any of your try'd doing a cake in a jar? It really works well. Any cake you can make norrmally you can make in a jar.
Also space is very limited so try thinking the size of a shoe box.
Best wishes to all on the GB and fair winds and following seas.
Great ideas patmac! I also heard "razors and shampoo" from my last conversation, so necessities and, of course, their fav foods is the key. However, keep the ideas coming! Thank you so much! Heck....4 boxes! You're making me feel a bit lazy - I better get busy! ;)
I'll be shopping this weekend in order to get my son's Christmas care pkg. out, and I'm wondering the same thing? For those moms/wives that have been there, do you have any suggestions? I'm sure many of us would appreciate!! Thanks! :)
My son did receive his package. NOw to send the next one & then next week will send his Christmas package out.
This is my son's 1st deployment, and I'm missing him like crazy! It looks like I better get his Christmas package out next week too - I appreciate the heads-up from all of you that have been down this road before. Thank you and God bless our GB sons, daughters, husbands and wives!!
