Karen....I started a pillowcase project.  We are making pillowcases for all the regular crew of the Greenbay.  We had 450 pillowcases to make.  Many of the mom's have either volunteered to sew pillowcases, purchase fabric or donate money for the project.  It has been a fun project.  I have gotten to know so many new people through this project.

Ladies.....I wanted to update you all on the pillowcase project.  After attending my Quilting Guild meetng this week.  The ladies there were outstanding.  They made and donated 190 pillowcases.  Two Monday's ago the Navy Mom's from Northern Calforina gathered at my house and we sewed 160 pillowcases in an afternoon.  That puts us at 350  pillowcases!!

I have another 100 pillowcases promised from other mom's/wives with loved ones on the ship.

I plan to start packages all these pillowcases by April 1st, that way they can make it to the ship by Easter.

Looking forward to hearing from all of you that our sewing.

Stand Strong Ladies!!!  Heads high!

Remember we do what others can't.  We stand by as our loved ones leave for deployment, we are not faint of heart.  We have all been through separations one way or the other whether it was BC, OCS or the Academy.  We done it before, we can and will do it again! (Can you tell I am channeling my father!)

Ok I am off to see what wonderful pillowcases my Quild Guild Ladies have made our ship:)

Aww. Sarah my heart goes out to you and Jonathan and of course Chris, its hard being a single mom.. my husband worked all the time when I had small babies at home and my father passed when all that was going on.. so i kinda know how hard  having the weight on thw world on your shoulders, GOD SPEED the GB and all the other ships.

Sandy .. I know I couldnt get anything done today.. I waited all day for that call  and it was short  and not sweet for me cuz i lost it after.. my daughter is like why are you crying again and said ..are you starting your period ... (oh brother) lmao

Kab..  I live by Madonna college and St Marys hospital... across the street

Jody..  I told my son to tell Jarrod to call his momma next time he is in port.. lets see if he tells him lol wink

Yes I live in Michigan - Farmington Hills - SE MI. Probably within a few miles of Dee. My daughter lives on your side of the state in Kent City - works in Grand Rapids. I spoke to my son for a few minutes before they left - and then he had to go since they were getting underway.. I started to cry in the middle of Kohl's -    safe journey to all the crews --

Yes, Dee and Kab are neighbors, at least in the same state.
