Ladies....You are all so lucky to have heard from your son's daily.

While my son was deployed we went weeks without hearing from him. I know if he could have called more often he would have, but his assigment prevented that.

I will feel like I am in the lap of luxury with having him be able to e-mail and call from now on.

All...If you haven't discovered it you shoudl register for the "Ding" on Southwest Airlines. The "Ding" sends you a message when they have sales on airfares. Just this last week the had cross country air fare for $189.00 round trip.

I know I was flying about every three to four months from Calif to Virginia to see my darling granddaughters. I would leave Thursday night and come home Sunday evening. It was just right for the short visit.

Did any on you catch the program on last night on the Science channel about the building of the LPD's? It was pretty interesting even tho they did not show the GreenBay.

All....My son made it stateside late last night. It was so good to hear his voice!!

His wife sold his house in 5 days, so they are now busy starting to pack things up.

He has a school to go toin Florida for two weeks the first of August, then it on to San Diego. I believe he has another class to undertake once he arrives in San Diego, then he will meet the ship underway.

Hope you are all having a wonderful 4th and you hear from your sailors!

After all these years, I have learned to take what I can get in way of time with him.

If it means taking the holiday meal to the ship to share the day, or just doing laundry with him because his has duty when I am visiting. We make what little time we have together work.

I hope all of you get visits soon!

Kim....I am sure you had a wonderful visit with your son and girlfriend!! Hope you took lots of pictures?

From what I am hearing there is another cruise coming up after the 8 day cruise within the next 8 weeks. My son beleives he will have to meet the ship after it is underway by way of the islands.
