Mary....What is a Blue Jacket award?

This will be the first time our son has ever been assigned to a ship. He is slated to be the Air Boss.

Yes he is very much looking forward to being assigned to a ships. He has been in Afghanistan since November, so this will allow him a bit of time home with his family before they go out on cruise.

Mary....I hear you about not being with your son on his birthday. My son's birthday was April 1. We did get a phone call from him and it was so good to hear his voice! He did say that as a surprise he got ice cream on his birthday. As a side note your birthday is the same day as was my father. I will think about you all on Sat.

Well drop a note now and then and keep me posted on whats going on.

Mary and Kim....Just got back from a visit with my girls. It was a great week in VA. I actually got to talk with my son on his birthday. It was so good to hear his voice. He is still awaiting his written orders. Looks, like he will get out of Afghanistan late June early July. I guess he has a couple of schools to go to before he joins the ship.

So what's new with you girls?

Mary....He spent 4 years at the Naval Academy and 8 years active. With him being on deployment again, it seems like a life time. That's why this web site is so great. You can talk with other mom's who understand what it is like to not talk or see you child for long period of times. Civilian mom's who do not have children serve, just don't get it.

Mary....I feel like the last 12 years I have spent scanning pictures for a glimpse of my son. Once in a while I get lucky.
