Can anyone tell me the date for 2016 Family Day? My sailor tells me that there isn't a set date but they are aiming for the week of August 22. Anyone else have this issue or know what the date? I'm 12 hours away so I'm trying to plan for my visit.

I didn't even know there was such a thing!  Thank you for starting this so we all can find out!

I am not sure what is allowed to be told and what is off limits.  Date wise.  Is it safe to tell what I know? For all I know it may be wrong because my son gets his information from other guys.

That being said, from what I was told, it will only be a 4-6 hour cruise, out that day then right back.   They will be gone the week before then when they get back, families will board and get a small idea of what life is like on an air craft carrier.  Please correct me if I am wrong.  I do not want to miss this day.

:)

Anne, that sounds correct <-- well this is the same description my son told me.  My son gets his information from other sailors also. I keep pressuring him to figure out a date. He will be heartbroken if Im not able to go BUT he's 12 hours away. That really takes some planning.

I would think we should get a date for planning purpose.

I know I am not on much but wanted to let you all know, if it is possible you have to attend this.  It is an experience of a lifetime.  Your sailor should be able to give you the information.  He/she has to register you. That is how I got my information, if it is still the same, and then you will get an invitation.

I told my son about this Tuesday morning.  He said they were just getting the info too.  He tried to register us after he got off watch Wednesday at 1400.  Seems the registration for the activity closed yesterday at 1000 or 1100!

He was crushed that he couldn't host us for this activity.  Guess that's life!  Hard sometimes.

So that's it?

My daughter in law is aboard the Truman.

My son is on there
