I know, aren't they cool? I love the pink and brown combo! But that was back in 2010 so I guess they're collector's items now LOL The FRG was doing a contest a few weeks ago for T shirt designs so I'm sure they'll be selling new ones soon. Are you a member of the FRG group? Here's their email: iwofrg@gmail.com and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/807286789316762/.
Marcy,
I want those too! Where can I get the cute pink Iwo cap and t-shirt?
Marcy,
Good to know that! Thanks. I sent him back to the post office for the third time today and they closed early. The note said, 8:30 - 12 pm, but my sailor was there at 11:38 and it was locked up. The notices via texting and me going online to track his overnight expedited package did not alert me that it had arrived until after the post office was closed. Bad system and I will expect my expedited money back and they better find a way to process his passport app Friday.
As far as I know, while it's good to have one, a passport isn't required for your sailor. When the ship arrives in the port of a foreign country, a "status of forces agreement" goes into effect. Your sailor only needs his military ID to visit that port of call. Your sailor would only need his passport if he has to fly home because of an emergency and has to use a commercial airline.
There are various private services online that can expedite a passport for a fee. Have you looked into those? Otherwise, it sounds like he'll have to make an appointment at the local (not Miami) post office to hand in his forms and photos, and wait for it to come in the mail to you so you can send it to him on the ship.
Some I saw online are rushmypassport.com, passportandvisastoday.com and expresspassport.com
Marcy,
The National Passport Acceptance office for Florida is in Miami. Any other ideas? Thanks for helping.
Need some prayer, please. I am trying to help my sailor get an expedited passport for upcoming deployment. EVERYTHING that could go wrong has. I paid overnight fees to get papers to him. He went to the local Florida post office twice today. The first time they refused to help him with his passport and the second time they locked the post office except for the self service.
I called the national USPS office and they couldn't even reach the post office through their internal number to talk to them. Two other post offices that take appointments for passports haven't even answered the phone these two days to make an appointment for him!
I have several complaints into the USPS office and will write the Passport Office in Dulles, VA to let them know how impossible they make it for our military to be served.
Tears are not helping me feel better, just need some love from you guys. Thanks!
