PoeticLife, my son & new DIL have been in Hawaii since Sept & love it. They're expecting their first child.

My Son just joined the Jacksonville in mid-December 2012 after graduating from BESS in November 2012.  Although the recent incident is keeping him dockside, I've enjoyed being able to communicate with him while he is in port.

We are new to the website, our son was assigned to the Jacksonville just before getting underway. We wanted to get intouch with others that are serving with him. We live in Georgia and want to support him as he starts his new life in the Navy. What a way to get started, stationed in Hawaii, the short time there, he loves it.

Hi everyone! My husband just got orders to Hawaii and they placed him with the Jacksonville! It would be great to get to know you all, especially wives since Hawaii is a long ways from home for me! =)

I enjoy the Facebook page but its nice to have a spot to comment that is different. Loved the pictures! It was such a nice surprise last week when I got up in the morning and there was a Skype call from our sailor. Just seeing his face makes such a difference. I think the holidays will be tough for those on their first deployment even though they have been away from home for awhile. Welcome Cathy!

Carole,

My son just deployed for the first time on the USS Jacksonville.  I would like to be a part of the USS Jacksonville Families group.  My name is Cathy and I look forward to chatting with other moms.

Hey anybody there? Read the news release today and just thought it would be a good time to try to connect again with other moms. Sounds as if a few of the crew has alot in common.

Hi, my husband just got orders to the Jacksonville.  I'm told it is going to be decommissioned.  This scares me a little, I want to move and stay put for 3 years.  Does anyone know when/where this will happen?  One place I read online it said 2014, but didn't say where.  Another website said 2017.  Trying to gather info anywhere.

I havent' been on here for a long time because there wasn't much going on. We just got back from visiting Hawaii which was so much fun. Got to tour the boat. Everyone was so nice. I understand more of what he talks about and how focused he is on his job. He is so proud of his boat and shipmates! Wish we could have spent more time with him though :(  It sure helps to be able to Skype.
