Now that it is over, I can tell you what happened to my daughter on the way from home to meet up with her ship.  I talked to her while she was in the airports in the US, but lost contact after that and didn't know if she made it to the ship or not.  I finally got a call a couple days later saying she was sick and they were putting her in the hospital (that she had been sick on the whole plane trip there) - it was a brief phone call and that is all she said.  Then the next day a Navy med nurse called me and said they did put her in the hospital in the country she was in with a kidney infection.  The nurse let her use her phone to call me the next day.  She stayed there a couple of days to get her fever down and then she was released by the doctors and finally was flown out to the ship.  Where I finally heard from her that she did make it to the ship.  I was very relieved.  So that was an experience in itself.  Her being in a foreign country, in their hospital, not knowing anyone and being sick.  I really worried about her.  But thankfully she is now on the ship and I feel much better.  Talking about adventures....so, yes I know how you feel on finally hearing that they are there safe and sound.  It is good to be able to share with other moms, friends, spouses, etc.  I pray God is with them and watches over them.

I know what you mean.  Just knowing they are okay is a great relief.

I asked my daughter if she was able to take any pictures with her digital camera and she said they couldn't as long as they were on military bases.  She has not had a chance yet to take any pictures.  Well, hopefully when she gets back to home base she can take some then.  It has been quite today.  No communications.

Mary Proud Mom--I just "communicated" with my son and asked him about the camera/adaptor.  He said the camera will be inspected and will get a sticker once it's approved.  As far as the charger goes, the ship has regular US outlets.  Hope that helps!

Yes, the address posted will work.  Once my daughter arrived on the ship, she sent me her email address and her mailing address - which isn't much different than the posted one.

I tried sending her an email about the adapter and it would not go through.  They must be in a spot that emails will not work.  I will try again later.
