Coronado isn't actually an island. It's connected to the "mainland" by a long thin mass of land called the Silver Strand. Many years ago the only way to reach Coronado was either driving all the way to Imperial Beach to the Silver Strand or by Ferry. I remember when I was a kid it was so fun for me when my family would get in the car and drive our car onto the Ferry and "sail" to Coronado. We now have the Coronado bridge.

For those of you going on the Tiger Cruise and have enough time in Coronado you must check out the Coronado Hotel. That's one of San Diego's historic landmarks. We also have Old Town, the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, the USS Midway and our local mountains and beaches. Here I live in San Diego and haven't been to any of these places in awhile lol!

I'm staying in coronado at a place called Crown Inn or something like that. ..lol! I don't know anything about island but would be fun to get together if possible for drinks or something. Or hoping there is starbucks right by bus gate the next morning.
Nice offer to stay the night...you are lucky to live right there:)!

Well I live in Santee which is a suburb just outside of San Diego. I work in San Diego and it takes me 20 minutes to get to work. If any of you ladies need a place to stay for a night or 2 you are more than welcome to stay at my home. I'm not going on the Tiger Cruise but I would love to help out any of my Shoup Mom Family! email me at lynneefitz@yahoo.com
