Hi Everyone!  I'm a Navy Mom from MA.  I wanted to extend an invitation to you all to participate in an event planned for this Sat., 10/1.  Patty, a RI Navy Mom, is heading up a Navy Mom presence at The Big E (no not the Enterprise, the fair).  Navy Week is being celebrated at The Big E in Springfield, MA.  We don't have a lot of time to really do something big, but we have quite a few items being sent to us from other areas in the country so we should be able to make our groups known to people who don't know we even exist.  The Big E runs from 9am to 11pm.  We are NOT going to stay that late, likely more like 9-5 with time to set up and break-down not included in those hours.

If anyone would like to take part in this event. Please leave me a comment or send me a PM and I can give you more details.  Here's hoping some of you live close enough to the MA border that you will be able to join us.

Thanks for considering it,

Donna

I live in VT but not damage at all.  I assisted with clean up today in other towns and some areas are a mess.  I am very thankful for the little wind/rain we had here, since so many areas were literally wiped out.  Sad times, but Vermonters are strong and pulling together.

  •  hi I live in Schdy NY, a little over an hour away from Bennington. I  saw on CNN that you got hit in some areas and I wanted to make  sure you were okay. Since  I spend some time in Vermont  going camping, perhaps sometime we can meet up sometime. I haven't been to Rutland  since my older 2 were  younger. We went to a Renaissance faire at Killington MT.  Mom and I used  go to the Essex JCt  fair.. I think they  call it the  Essex County Exposition. we would take our crafts there, then come back and get what's left after Labor day that was fun as we  would make alot of money doing this. t gave  us something to look forward to as we worked on our crafts all year round. getting ready for it. and what ever was left, would be used for our Dec. craft fair.. I stopped going after my mom lost her eyesight   and actually I think it was on'01 0r '02 ' that was the last time we did it as  it was getting harder for Dad to make the trip. Mom didn't do  it after that, and started to wean off the crafts only doing a few faires  a year. My dad died in '03 and mom did crafts until she lost her vision to Lymphoma in '05. She passed away Halloween' 10 so its been hard trying to get back into the swing of things with the crafts.. but I really want to  do the fair again. I loved sending my crafts there. and waiting to find out  if any of them sold. Does anyone know  if the Exposition still exists?  well again, I hope everyone is doing well and your  sailors are doing well. My son is a seabee, and has been in  for 5 years. He  just re-upped in March before he went to Japan. He is currently in school learning how to be a recruiter.. then he will be in New Jersey which is like a smidge over 3 hrs from home.

Patti Congrats!  My son lived in HI for 5 years before going into the Navy but with Skype (we hadn't used it, but it's free), phone, and the visit to a warm place in the dead of VT winters, it might not be so bad.  It's 80 everyday and 60's every night. Not a bad life!
