Lol. That's okay, I understand. I didn't know that VA was the only place that you could get the license and getting the same day. But that's still good that you could go by yourself to get it cuz I would have gotten mine earlier but we both had to be there... Congratulations and I hope everything works out good for you!

Janae i jsut read my post i didn't mean to come off like that lol. im jsut running through check lists in my head and just making sure i dont forget anything before i drive down there.. I wish we could go the same day but every state around here has the mandatory waiting period. We got lucky with MD cause one one of us has to be there and he never gets out of school beofre 4 which is when the majority of places close. Were aiming for Memorial day weekend that friday he has off and hopefully its off to the courthouse!

Thanx Elle and best wishes to you too!

Kac46047, I was just asking. We live in VA and we got the marriage license the same day we got married and I didn't know if you could do the same in maryland.

No i do not live in maryland, i called the county and ask if out of state residents could apply and she said yes , the licence will only be valid in maryland though. hich isn't a problem because thats where he is stationed and where we plan on getting married

Congrats Elle! I just got married on April 20th…. It is hard to plan a wedding with a man who is in the Navy… We went to the court in our small town and got married… We planned in less than a week and we had to get our marriage license the same day we got married because that was the first day of his leave and we didn’t want to wait because he was about to leave on a really long deployment and could have gotten called back at anytime…. It was nice though. We did it outside with some family and friends and it was a beautiful day.

Kac46047, do you live in Maryland?

Comment by Kac46047 on May 12, 2011 at 4:12pm
Hey everyone, does anyone know the policy in MD. I googled and called the anne arundel county policies and jsut want to double check. They said i can go by myself without my finance to get the marriage license. Anyone do this? Its so hard to plan when he cant even go to an office before it closes at 4 because of A school. Im happy i found this county that allows just me to be there.SO is there anyone out there that tried this in MD before or similiar situation? i have to drive 3 hours just to get there and ocme home just so we caan get married on his leave for memorial day... o the things we do

Thank you and I sure will keep em handy.  :)

Planning a wedding (while in the Navy) is extremly hard ...you can't really set a date because things constantly change. He got leave unexpectedly, he came home, and we just got married through court it went great. I plan to have a big wedding later for family and friends.
