Blondie,

Thanks for your comforting words.  Yes, sunshine and warmer weather on the way - yeah!  I've heard birds singing and have seen green sprouts pushing through the ground where snow has melted.  Spring can't be too far away!

My son is a GSM. He skypes me when he can which is at least every couple of days. He likes Japan, but has worked 16+ hours a day over the last week due to them having inspections. Luckily he has the weekend off so he can actually leave the ship for a while.

Thanks to all for the support. I'm feeling a little sad because he doesn't sound too good this week.... working 16 hour days. I'm hoping he's just going through an adjustment and will feel better about his choice after a bit.

Hello all! I just want to say hello and I'm glad to be a part of this group. My sailor left for Yokosuka, Japan on Jan. 7. He is attached to the USS Curtis Wilbur. It is taking alot of adjusting now that he is in another country. He just joined in July 2010.

I enjoy reading all the posts about your adventures on your visit.  I hope to be able to go someday.  With all the walking, you must have strong legs!

Susie - how perfect for your son to be there for Coming of Age!

Blondie, can't wait to hear more!  Sounds like you have been busy since you got home.  Same here, we got 10 inches of snow Sunday night!  Can you believe it, here in Mississippi!!!  Was off from work yesterday, hubby took off at lunch and came home and played with us.  We built a snow man and played in the snow all afternoon... such a treat for us.  I am back at work today, we are going to close early because of the roads.  We do not have the equipment to clear our roads as larger cities do.  Looking forward to you sharing your adventures with us.

Susie, hang in there.... My son has been in Japan since Oct. and we miss him terribly, but he somehow makes it easier for us when he tells us how much he likes it there.  You will love skyping with him.  Hopefully he will get all of that set up soon.   In the mean time you get on her and talk with all of these wonderful Moms, they have lots of good advice and will help you through those really tough times.  This site has truly been my lifesaver!  Will say a prayer for you and your son.

shortymom... can wait to hear more from you also.   We are wanting to visit my son this summer, so you and Blondie have been a lot of help to me.   Keep on sharing and enjoy your visit with your sailor!!!

Carolina, how exciting!  I know you can't wait to see your daughter.  I am so happy for you.
