FTLW, I will tell her to contact the adminstration or I will do it myself to approve her. Thanks for the info too.
THis is a picture of my son on his ship. He is on the USS Port Royal. I was looking on the obudsman on facebook and I found this picture of him. It was bigger because one of the sailors was getting an award but I cut it down to just him. I am going to try and find the picture of him from graduation at bootcamp. It is one of my favorite pics of him. I will post it when I find it because I think it is on my other computer or on snapfish. I want to share the look on his face when he saw us. It is priceless.
I am off for a while to work on ribbons and scarves. I normally leave the computer up and running and check it occasionally but we are having a thunderstorm now and expecting 2 inches of rain today YUCK, so I am unplugging everything just to be safe from lightening. I will be back later with some pics for your divisions on the scarves you have ordered :-) Have a great morning everyone.
Yes FTLW they did back then. My sailor didn't get overnite but I had all weekend with him. That wasn't even enough for me. It was a long ride home that Sunday. I know I cried a little when we were leaving. I did the same when my other son graduated from the Airforce last year I cried a little on the plane ride home. I haven't seen them for a year now either but that is the Navy mom life.
Courtney: To add on to what Lala said below, we encourage all extras to go to PIR. They are not guaranteed by the Navy to get in, but most all do. Some don't even have to wait at the Visitors Center until all are seated....depends on the size of the PIR group. This group is average sized. It is well worth it for all to make an attempt to get in to see the ceremony. Not all of the sailors have family there, so there is usually space.
Gayle: Many of the SRs tell their parents--before they leave for bc--- not to come to PIR. They don't want them to spend the money and feel it is no big deal. Well, it is a big deal. And if at all affordable, most want parents there by the end. It is understandable that all can't get there...and will save to visit A School. But if given a choice, GO!
I really don't think you have to do anything. When my Sailor was there all they had to do was sign out and say who they were going with. There were not allowed to go alone but they could pair up and go with a friend (males with males, females with females) They have that same rule in A-school as well once they phase up and you have to come back with who you left with. I guess they are responsible for each other.
Courtney how old is the little brother? If he is under 12 he doesn't even need to be on the list to get in. So, they could take his name off and put his friend's name on the list. They have a place for the extras to wait at the visitors center (where you check in) and then right before PIR starts they let them in as long as there is room. With only 10 divisions graduating and you only have 1 extra guest I doubt they will even make him wait. I really doubt you will have any problems at all.
Good Morning All! I have them at Week 5 Day ? i think like 3?
We are down to 23 Days!!!
I've got them at Week 5, Day 1. That is my closest guesstimate based on what my SR said a few weeks ago. I know that MLK Day won't count towards their days.
