Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

"You are correct: Recruits are not allowed computer access during boot camp, especiall for social media site. However, some recruits can use the computer after Battle Stations, during the time they are given to be at the phone center, NEX and food court.

Another reason this guy may have been on the computer is because he is in the process of getting separated. That process can take a few weeks and during that time, I believe they are allowed computer access.

You did the right thing in deleting him because there's no way he is active in a division and getting access to FB. When your division graduating?

Comment by winterrosebud (Ship 12 Div 053) on January 7, 2012 at 2:25pm: I know the recruits do computer based training courses but the RDC watch their every move and can see everyone's screen on a master computer .My Sr told me a recruit tried to check his facebook account and immediately was reprimanded and given IT.

But if he wasn't lying, I'll owe him an apology at PIR. lol

Comment by Trisha(Ship12Div054)Michael<3 on January 7, 2012 at 1:45pm: Well he asked to join the group for 12/054 - there are girls on facebook who are not on this site for some reason, so ia made a group for them to talk and stuff - a lot of them didnt know about this site.
Anyways, he asked to join the group so I let him because i thought maybe he had a girlfriend or a friend or someone at RTC. He then posted on the page that the photo we had up (the christmas photo of 054) was their christmas photo - which is right..then on his FB page he had stuff about how he wanted people to write him letters and he had the right address for all the guys in 054. So he had correct info - but Im not sure if they're actually allowed to do that.
