For any SR's going to be a nuke, super helpful schedule. Little old, but tells you about liberty etc. http://www.navyformoms.com/group/nukemoms/forum/topics/your-sailors...
Lani and Gayle - yes, it helps. thank you so much for the information!
Angel, not necessarily! I'm just sharing for general info! I'm sure by now your SR has his own NEX card! (or maybe he took his bank card?)
The NEX was just a thought for my SR as I knew he had no cash and they didn't get paid for while (he has since received both his debit card and first paycheck!)
He spent what money he took on Stamps and Stationary (YAY!) and it was more a Christmas gift than anything. I just think it;s god to know about the gift cards. You never know what situation may come up and it's also a good idea for friends and family that may want to send a gift at birthdays or whatever!
As far as the phone cards...I really messed that up before he left! I knew nothing of them. I think the virtual is a great idea and I like it can reloaded.
Gayle, so much info!! Should i be sending him the same kind of things? i sent him with a phone card, do you think we will have a chance to order the pics if they dont? NEX gift cards - like how much? i feel like a beginner again!
Angelwetz:
I saw somewhere pics etc will be for sale there but I have mentioned to my SR in letters to be sure to order them if given the opportunity! I will reimburse him.
I believe I saw about $130.00? Can't recall where I saw that. There will be all kinds of goodies etc, for sale at PIR.
Heres hoping you get a letter today!!
****Cross posting this also on Bootcamp Moms****
I spent all day yesterday organizing the Hotel, Flight and Rental car. Getting pretty excited!
BANDAIDS
I sent The BlisterCare type bandaids in my first few letters. They stay put and stay on for days when properly applied. They are pricey but well worth it. I also sent the flexible fabric type as well. I bought generic (Blistercare still Pricey) but he appreciated them!!
PHONE CARDS
I had a heck of a time finding phone cards last minute (I thought it would be easy so put no real thought into it before SR left)
Thanks to N4M's, I ordered an ATT Virtual Phone card, which can be reloaded! I sent my SR a letter with the number and pin he needed. Works great and I one it can be reloaded by me...or him now that he's making some money ;)
NEX GIFT CARD
Again, thanks to N4M's, I learned about the NEX gift cards. Before my SR left, we set up a bank account for him. The debit card came in the mail after he left (poor timing on our part). All he had was about 30 bucks cash and he went through that quickly in stationary, stamps, etc. I ordered the NEX Card for him online and he got it within a few days.
Since all that, the debit card arrived and he has it in his hot little hands!
I have sent self addressed labels to him sand stamps as well.
Someone suggested sending our SR's a large brown stamped envelope so they can send things back home! They only have so much room to store things and unless they are the type to chuck old letters, they may appreciate being able to send the tons of mail etc they (hopefully) get back home!
LETTERS!!!!!!!!
Love getting them!
A little aside. Some of you may be getting letters with the Navy emblem in the return address scratched though. I was wondering why My SR was scratching the Navy Emblem out.....was he incognito? Not Proud? Nope, none of those. Seems the Navy Emblem is sometimes "read" by automatic mail sorting machines as Fake or counterfeit Stamps!
Mystery Solved!!!!
Good Morning Everyone. I am so happy for everyone that received letters. I did not, maybe today :)
Can anyone tell me about the Div pictures? will they be for sale at PIR? does anyone know the price? Also, the t-shirts will be on sale there? Or should we order them now?
HOOYAH for letters!
Good morning, all!
