For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". Comment by diannep on January 3, 2012 at 10:59am: Trisha: We were there in the first week of Feb 2910. Snow everywhere. We are S. Floridians...have no clue what snow is! I rented an SUV just in case...but found that the roads there are kept very clear. No problems.

For those worried about the snow/ice conditions, you may want to just use Sarge's transportation service and leave the driving to them!

Yes, Springhill gets rave reviews from the ladies who have stayed there on this site. So does Residence. Both are owned by Marriott. I may be partial since my sailor worked for some Marriott Hotels and liked how they run things! We got some "dirt cheap" stays in some nice ones when he worked for them...and I agree. Don't think you all will be disappointed in either of these, but there are also many other hotels around in the area...some cheaper. The area is pretty small so you are never terribly far from the base.

When I went one morning I got a real treat of watching several Divisions march up to the NEX. They were calling cadence. I would have loved to have sat on a bench between the fields and just watched for a while. I think my son just wanted to get off the base...though he did give me a few moments!
