For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". Comment by hk1853 on December 19, 2011 at 1:32am: Any thoughts on booking a room at the Hilton o'hare for saturday and then flying out of there later that night? Kind of a waste, but I think the chance of alone time might be worth it. Though I'd have to double book it for Friday night too so wed have it saturday morning too. Hmmm so I would book Thursday and friday at residence inn and then drive to o'hare either late Friday night or saturday morning and check in at Hilton. Crazy?

Comment by diannep on December 18, 2011 at 6:12pm: Noemi: Look into flying into Milwaukee on Southwest. No change fee (in event your SR is setback or you have to change for another reason) and 2 bags ship free. 45 minutes straight drive from there to GL (interstate). No traffic unlike Chicago which has horrendous traffic!

Good hotels near Sarge's MeetNGreet, with PIR shuttle service to base, which is about 4 miles away are: Springhill Suites and Residence Inn (Waukegan). Ramada is where the other MeetNGreet is held. Mixed reviews on that hotel...some say it is fine, others say it has a smell. Navy Lodge is close to RTC. No shuttle...but you can take a cab or drive. Good rates...

The form letter should have a pamphlet in it with hotels, etc. I also googled hotels in Great Lakes area when I was booking 2 yrs ago and there are lots. Just depends on the price you want to pay.

Im looking for Plain tickets and Hotels near Great lakes. I found A few but Also need to know what airport to get it too. and transportation. Ive been looking since yesterday but Only found a few.
