Added link for RTC Website up above below the Weather Widget. Ths site is for the families andrecruits with lots of info put out by Recruit Training Command.
Also added links for the two Meet and Greets, you can RSVP to the events. The M & G are for ALL the families of the new Sailors of your PIR group. (Your new Sailors do not attend these though)
Here is info about them in a nutshell...click the links for further details:
Here's a quick rundown of both Meet and Greets:
Sarge:
5-10 pm at the Sundance Saloon.
FREE transportation from Springhill Suites, Marriot Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn, Candlewood Suites and Crossland. All other local hotels for a modest fee.
Guest Speaker from the Base to provide info on where to eat, things to do, how to save $$.
FREE food starting at 7 PM….they also have a menu if you want to order something.
Sarge has lived in the area for over 30 years and knows it well.
Sarge has arranged with his friend Nick at Trattoria-Pomigliano in Libertyville for a FREE meal – ANYTHING they want – for your Sailor.
There is a DJ.
Plus, Sarge goes above and beyond the “call of duty” to help Sailors and their families. (He is the “go to” guy for Taxi (shuttle) service. Prices are great and again does more than he has too!)
Ramada:
6-8 pm at the Ramada.
Finger foods – Chips and salsa, veggies and dip, egg rolls, meatballs, maybe another and it could change. (This is what they had when I went. Sarge was not doing a Meet and Greet then)
Bar – or you can bring in your own soft drink or water. Those staying at the Ramada get a voucher for to free drinks.
Hostess provides a name tag and will come in and greet everyone and ask if anyone would like to speak.
BOTH events are open to everyone. There will be people there that know nothing about N4M’s. Invite them!
Thanks LaLa!
For Everyone - There is a lot of reading material inthe Discussion Forum area for you.The Discussion Forum area will only show twenty titles at a time. It is also set to show the "latest activity". So whatever has just had a reply added to it will "bump" up to the top. Whatever is at the bottom will disappear. So, if you want to see more click, "view all" at the bottom right hand corner of the discussion forum area. It is right up there above the Blue Comment Wall bar.
To "bump" up a discussion to the first spot of the DF area when you don't really want to add a reply...in other words someone is looking for it...just type whatever you want in the reply box and click "add reply". I just type one letter and add the reply. Then get rid of it by clicking the "x" in the top right hand corner. The discussion will stay up there at the top without your reply. It's because it has had "activity".
When you view a DF the first post ever made will be the first page. To get to the most current reply, click “Last Reply”.

Well it depends on what you mean by after bootcamp. As far as getting married the weekend of PIR that will probably not be able to happen. They really don't allow them to do that and if they do they have to jump through a bunch of hoops and have special circumstances and get permission first. The other problem is that most of them leave for A-school the morning after PIR and therefore there isn't enough time to get a marriage license. I know this is probably not the news you want to hear but you will probably have to wait until they are in A-school and have fazed up and are allowed off base and even then they still have to have permission. I wish you both the best of luck. My daughter and her husband got married while she was in A-school and 4 days before he left for bootcamp.
Noemi -Congratulations!
