I send my Fiance a holiday card with a red envelope today. And i didnt mean to. IT came like that . :(
I have a question, I read this thing on what to expect on dec BC, Its this true . I r
"No, recruits can NOT receive holiday gifts or care packages - unless you want to send a gift card, which they can't use until after graduation. Have your holiday celebration BEFORE they leave, or after PIR. You can send a greeting card, but make the envelope plain white and no musical cards. Some RDCs will harass sailors who get mail that "stands out." RDCs want to be home with their families for Christmas, not babysitting 80+ fresh recruits, so they may have a pretty bad attitude toward recruits at this time."
Springhill and Courtyard are right next to the Walmart shopping center with restaurants, etc. Sarge's MeetNGreet is nearby. Don't hear Courtyard mentioned much on this site. Residence Inn is right up the street. Very nice and pet friendly!
If you all want to send any family pics, scan them on the back of your letters rather than sending actual pics. I did this when my son was there and he loved it. He especially liked the piks of the dogs! They have very little space to store actual pics.
Did we ever find out about sending Christmas cards? ...last I "heard" was NOT to send them.
eljac913 - Yay on the letter!
Each RDC is different. The Family Guide from RTC will tell you it's okay to send pictures...most RDC's don't mind them either...but then there are some that do. It is good that your SR warned you. Any other divisions...just go with what your SR tells you..like I said most don't mind but ALL pictures will be looked at by the RDC's for content. They DO NOT open the recruits mail but if it is bulky or larger than usual they will be asked to open it in front of them.
Some also do not allow newspaper clippings etc. we advise you to scan them and copy them onto the backs of your letters. I did this with cartoons, jokes etc.
A gentle reminder that plain white envelopes are best. No colored, glitter, stickers and musical ones will bring on IT...so a no-no!
Camo-Mom: The 900 divisions are the performing divisions. They are the band, drill team, choir, and have other functions like attending to the speakers at PIR, etc. They perform in other PIRs besides just their own. The 800 divisions are all Special Ops divisions. All other division numbers are random and include various jobs that SRs are headed for after bootcamp/school.
They are real letters, 2 pages mine was and my son is not a writer. He did say not to send pictures.
I got a letter today also. Very exciting! We are moving along.
Here is another Mr. Bean...this one really made me laugh because there is a Border Collie about three and a half minutes into it.
Good Afternoon!
