For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on January 20, 2012 at 4:54am: I know...we always tell everyone that IF they can book through until Sunday...just in case plans change...which happened in my case. BUT, I also say to make the best plans thy you can (work, time, finances as you said) and be at peace with it.
There was a chance that my son would have had liberty until Monday and I would've lost a day...but Sunday was the best I could do. He was supposed to leave Friday (Thursday PIR) all the way up until the Tuesday before PIR. He called me while I was flying to tell me that it had changed to Sunday!

Comment by Krspies - CTN Mom on January 20, 2012 at 4:36am: FTLW, I see, I was hoping that would happen to my son but I needed to make travel plans and unfortunately work and finances forced me to make a decision regardless of outcome but I'm lucky in that my SR's dad will be staying on his own vacation in Chicago for 5 days so my son won't be alone should he not leave in the dead of night.

I did ask around at work though and one of my coworker's is going to bring her son's ski coat so we'll see. if I'm lucky I won't have to buy one. it's been 65 degrees here for goodness sake! lol

MOST do leave at "o' dark-thirty" on Saturday if they are attending "A" school anywhere other than Great Lakes. Alicia has been told by her future Sailor that he has his orders and they say that he will be leaving on Monday.

Am I understanding right when I read that a SR going to A school in Pensacola won't be flying out until Monday? My SR is going to pensacola but I planned on him leaving at some ungodly hour in the morning Saturday morning.

I keep telling myself no news is good news.......I'll let you know about the train. I think it sounds great. I didnt get a letter today :( Hopefully one will come tomorrow telling me what he wants to do after PIR..
