Amy, I am sure we all have family that will be left behind at the hotel. The graduation will be shown live over the Internet so my oldest daughter has volunteered to stay behind with her one- year old nephew and try to watch it. Is Andrew staying at GL for A-school? I will pass his name along to my son in the letter I am currently writing. I wonder if the group is still too overwhelmed to notice when someone is struggling.

I am lucky enough that my son had no gf when he left and I received my first phone call this past Saturday. Andrew said he was doing ok but he definitely sounded down. He has always had a hard time making friends and I thought this would be his chance but so far he has made no connections which makes this even harder knowing that he is alone.

I honestly thought I could handle this on my own but I am not doing so well. I grew up in waukegan and am boticing a lot of questions about where to stay for graduation time. We booked at the ramada and got a better rate then the navy rate they offer. I am also teying to figure out why only 4 family members can attend graduation. I have 3 other kids and a husband plus my sailors dad.

Hello everyone! Thank you PROUD MAMMA OF 2 SAILORS!!! for setting this group up. I think its a good idea to get to know one another as our SRs are doing the same.

My son also used his call to call his girlfriend, the connection was so bad, she didn't hear anything so hung up. She then called me devastated, hoping he called me but he didn't. I'm hoping with holiday weekend, they will get another chance this weekend and he will call his MOTHER this time, LOL. Though gf and I have a pact and know what to tell him for each other. I just want to hear his voice again, even if its for 30 seconds.

Amy Hall, this site is great. Has tons of information, and the support from the members is awesome! Most of my friends are sending their kids off to college or they haven't left home yet, so this support system has been just what I needed.

Navymom2013, Yes I am from Beardstown, wow someone told me they knew you the other day, maybe they worked with you, I can't recall who it was, someone from here?? and they thought that our boys had probably roomed together because you had said that your son had roomed with a boy from Beardstown. My son told me that he was rooming with someone from Athens who had played against them in football. Well I take it I will probably meet you at PIR. Where are you staying??

Hi fellow Navy moms! I am brand new to this site and wasn't even sure I was going to check it out but decided I would. I am so excited that I found a group that had children participate in the cardinal company!

Hello!! So happy I was directed to here! I received a call Saturday from my son. It was sooo good to hear from him. We all got choked up a bit while talking. He said he was good, no complaints. Other than he said he had to have all his wisdom teeth cut out. :( I am praying that all goes well and does not hinder his graduation. We haven't received a letter yet from him, sittin on pins n needles waiting. cathymgShip03Div367&ship11Div383 are you from Beardstown? If so our sons roomed together in St Louis.

Hello everyone I haven't been on in a few days.  I am so glad everyone has heard from their sons.  My son took his call to call his girlfriend which is okay this time.  I found out from my oldest son who is also in the Navy that he was on the same ship 3 years ago when he was in basic.  I thought that was so cool both my boys on a ship I can't say the name right...LOL... I also found out that is you send your son a letter in a big package that they have to open it in front of everyone, we are a joke playing family so I'm trying to think of something good to send  Robert, maybe a baby pic or something.    I hope to get a letter this week.   if anyone is still looking for rooms we have room at the Navy lodge and its only $71 a night and no taxes.  it has a kitchen in each room to I think.  I hope everyone is doing well.
