Welcome to all Anticipating PIR 10/7/2011!!

This group is for those with loved ones who had PIR on 10/07/2011. (PIR is short for Pass-in-Review and just means graduate from Boot Camp.)

It was an amazing ceremony, an amazing opportunity to see our Sailors perform and participate as an entire group, amazing to hear that wonderful Liberty call and completely overwhelming to get those long awaited hugs.

It is our desire that this Group will provide the information, encouragement, and support you need while your loved one continues their Navy Journey. We are hoping you will continue to come back and update everyone on that journey and continue to seek support and encouragement from friends you have already made here.

Enjoy your time here and feel free to Comment and join in the Discussions. Be sure to check out the information in the "Pages" section to the right. This is information that will be of interest to all Members.  (You will need to click on "View All" to see all of them.)

Please review the Community Guidelines and keep OPSEC in mind when you post. If you would not want an enemy to know something, then do not post it here because this is NOT a secure site and the enemy lurks. Please do not post your Sailor's last name and NEVER his/her full name. Also do not use your full name, especially if your last name is the same as your Sailor's. If your Sailor provides specific information about events that will occur, please keep that to yourself and do not post the day/time on here since this information may be sensitive and is not to be shared.

Hi! My fiance is in DIV 329. I was wondering has anyone gotten a letter(besides the one saying where to write them at)?? So far only his parents have gotten one and I know he is going to write me. (I sent him stamps, envelopes, etc) I just dont know when I should be expecting a letter...I'm dying to hear from him!

@Betsy - how unusual to have an earthquake in your area!  It is an odd feeling, and then to look out the window and see things moving... I'm familiar with that area.  We had an earthquake in the PacNW when we lived there - no CA for me either!  Good to know you're ok.

Just got a text from my sailor in VA (Norfolk area).  They had the earthquake too..he sounds a bit freaked out in his text.  Sounds like it was a pretty massive area!

Ok, I never ever want to feel another earthquake.  I can't believe we just had an earthquake in Maryland.  5.8 was big enough to scare me.  Things were falling off the shelves in our apartment, roof sounded like it was going to cave in, (I'm on top floor) so I ran outside to get out of the building.  Convinced me that I will never want to live in CA.

I've updated the Important Websites Page.  If you haven't checked out that Page (and at least some of the others), now would be a good time to do that.

Sure, I'll chime in!

Picture-back then. Pushups-recent.

No...not this group. The picture one came from "Top ten lines..." or "Funny letters written home..." (Funny letters is on a group that is now private so I can't access it) a recruit wrote home or called and mentioned it. So I read it from an old post (I've only been a navy mom since March of this year) Push-ups were from Centennial PIR group this year.

There are others that I have "heard" but not going to go on and on.

I think you all get the point.

Okay...stop panicing.

We are here to educate you. This is your training ground too, so to speak. Your recruits are being trained...being corrected...and moving forward. They have too...and so do we.

I was given and give the examples of the RDC's being able to put the puzzle together, because the situation exemplifies the rules of OPSEC. It starts here for us...and if we can't handle the "small" things...how are we going to handle the "big"?

Panicing won't help...learning and doing will...for your recruit/sailor...and you.
