Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Welcome to all Anticipating PIR 10/7/2011!!

This group is for those with loved ones who had PIR on 10/07/2011. (PIR is short for Pass-in-Review and just means graduate from Boot Camp.)

It was an amazing ceremony, an amazing opportunity to see our Sailors perform and participate as an entire group, amazing to hear that wonderful Liberty call and completely overwhelming to get those long awaited hugs.

It is our desire that this Group will provide the information, encouragement, and support you need while your loved one continues their Navy Journey. We are hoping you will continue to come back and update everyone on that journey and continue to seek support and encouragement from friends you have already made here.

Enjoy your time here and feel free to Comment and join in the Discussions. Be sure to check out the information in the "Pages" section to the right. This is information that will be of interest to all Members. (You will need to click on "View All" to see all of them.)

Comment by sbarber on October 5, 2011 at 9:17am: darlene8993: I think what lemonelephant is trying to tell you is that you still must address packages etc SR seaman recruit until they advance in rank as this is their pay grade or rank not just used for boot camp as some of us would have expected to drop that SR off of the correspondence's since they are now sailors.

Comment by Bucksmom on October 5, 2011 at 8:32am: I can almost physically feel the excitement in this group as you get closer to Friday. I can remember my sons PIR, my heart seemed to pound extra fast those last couple days. As Mom's nobody feels this like we do and people around us think we are crazy cuz the littlest things (good or bad) set us off into giddiness or a puddle of tears. I am SO happy for all of you as you are getting ready to see your Sailors in just a few short days. I will be there also to see my future son-in-law as he graduates, and I am as proud today as I was when my son PIR'd in March. Praying for safe travels for all of you

I have found out that a fellow Navy Mom I've connected with via Facebook, received the same call we received regarding the run test! God showed us how amazing He is today.... and I know that He will show the same amazing power tomorrow for my friends SR as well! Please pray!!! THANK YOU LADIES!
