Welcome to all Anticipating PIR 10/7/2011!!

This group is for those with loved ones who had PIR on 10/07/2011. (PIR is short for Pass-in-Review and just means graduate from Boot Camp.)

It was an amazing ceremony, an amazing opportunity to see our Sailors perform and participate as an entire group, amazing to hear that wonderful Liberty call and completely overwhelming to get those long awaited hugs.

It is our desire that this Group will provide the information, encouragement, and support you need while your loved one continues their Navy Journey. We are hoping you will continue to come back and update everyone on that journey and continue to seek support and encouragement from friends you have already made here.

Enjoy your time here and feel free to Comment and join in the Discussions. Be sure to check out the information in the "Pages" section to the right. This is information that will be of interest to all Members.  (You will need to click on "View All" to see all of them.)

Please review the Community Guidelines and keep OPSEC in mind when you post. If you would not want an enemy to know something, then do not post it here because this is NOT a secure site and the enemy lurks. Please do not post your Sailor's last name and NEVER his/her full name. Also do not use your full name, especially if your last name is the same as your Sailor's. If your Sailor provides specific information about events that will occur, please keep that to yourself and do not post the day/time on here since this information may be sensitive and is not to be shared.

Sheilamf and MaryWil---THANK YOU SO MUCH.  You don't know how you made my day.  The relief almost makes me want to cry.  The thought of not being able to go was not a good feeling.

I have a very unusual request.  My future son-in-law's dad got the form letter at the beginning of boot camp and threw it away, not realizing the importance of the password to print the gate pass.  My daughter, his mom and dad are all going to ask him what it is when they get the "I'm a sailor call" but I told her I would see what I could do here.  The password for everybody in a PIR group is the same (I know this from my son's PIR).  Would somebody please friend request me and give me the password.  My daugther is just sick about the possibility of not getting to graduation, as is his Mom and Dad I'm sure.

Sheilamf - My SR will also be going to Groton, CT for Sub School.. Like your SR my SR did not know when he would be leaving.  I am hoping for a little time with him before he has to leave.  I know saying anytime would be okay but what I really want is a WHOLE LOT of time with him and I know realistically that may not happen "Needs of the Navy" tend to take the lead.  I know what you mean about keeping emotions in check I have had a hard time lately also thinking about how fast he will be leaving, but one thing to remember hopefully the communication with him will be more often.  Our older son went through Sub School in the spring and said it was a lot like bootcamp, but we did get several calls from him while he was there.  I just want to see my SR and give him a HUGE HUG and tell him how proud we are of him!!

Lala - my son is an AO going to Pensacola and I would love any info you would share!

Does anyone else have an SR going to Pensacola?  My son told me they would be leaving late Saturday or early Sunday, but he didn't have any more info.

Oh darlene that would be heavenly to spend some extra time with him at the airport.  So hope we get a bit of time!  Paperwork? Surprise, surprise.

ncmomof5 and Vuke's Mom, just talked to my daughter's friend, her flight left Chicago for Monterey at 10 am CT, and she also said some go a little later.  I asked her what she is doing today at DLI, and she said "paperwork"!  No surprise, there I suppose!
