Welcome to all Anticipating PIR 10/7/2011!!

This group is for those with loved ones who had PIR on 10/07/2011. (PIR is short for Pass-in-Review and just means graduate from Boot Camp.)

It was an amazing ceremony, an amazing opportunity to see our Sailors perform and participate as an entire group, amazing to hear that wonderful Liberty call and completely overwhelming to get those long awaited hugs.

It is our desire that this Group will provide the information, encouragement, and support you need while your loved one continues their Navy Journey. We are hoping you will continue to come back and update everyone on that journey and continue to seek support and encouragement from friends you have already made here.

Enjoy your time here and feel free to Comment and join in the Discussions. Be sure to check out the information in the "Pages" section to the right. This is information that will be of interest to all Members.  (You will need to click on "View All" to see all of them.)

Please review the Community Guidelines and keep OPSEC in mind when you post. If you would not want an enemy to know something, then do not post it here because this is NOT a secure site and the enemy lurks. Please do not post your Sailor's last name and NEVER his/her full name. Also do not use your full name, especially if your last name is the same as your Sailor's. If your Sailor provides specific information about events that will occur, please keep that to yourself and do not post the day/time on here since this information may be sensitive and is not to be shared.

Funny thing is I'm still a land line person, no cells, so I have been home for two days hanging by the phone.  I missed his call last week, we were out, Not this time.  Gonna be here til I get that all important call.  I did get a letter from him today.  He did not tell me when his BS were going to be, just that it is this week.

Mom2JT:  Hope you get that call today!  And check his FB page!  You never know!

momofbp:  Isn't Pacific time 2 hours behind GL time?  We are EST and the calls normally start coming in around 3 pm EST (we are an hour ahead of GL time).  So thinking that your calls could start around noon Pacific time?

Remember, sometimes the calls do not start that early--could come later.  But rarely do they start much before 2 pm GL. Of course, phones handy all day because you never know!

Well I never knew that, so thank you for the info.  As to my son's fb, he hadn't friended me yet, and from what I can tell he hasn't been on or he would have changed / deleted his fb photo.

jetboss>  Remember, BattleStations is an overnight drill.  So it involves two dates.

How exciting!  I'll be anxiously waiting to see everyone's excited posts about their new Sailors!
Comment by diannep on September 30, 2011 at 1:42pm

Hey, everyone.  If your new sailor has a FB, be sure to check that page if you can today...if they did BStations last night...  BECAUSE...for those who can't get on the phone yet, they may post on there that they are sailors!  IThey can buy internet time after they have completed BattleStations. I know a lady whose son was to PIR last Friday...but he was put into FIT to make his swim.  He finally called earlier this week to say he had made the swim and would be doing BStations that night with your PIR group.  She contacted me late the next day when no call came in...I suggested FB.  Well, guess what?  Yep, he had posted on there and her older son saw it!

So, check those FB pages in a little while if you can!  We think 4 divisions went last night, and if so...the phones will be busy for a while!

jetboss57 (Ship 9, Div 331), today is the first day that anyone from this TG could possibly receive the "I'm a Sailor" call, beginning in about an hour.  This is because there may have been some who had PIR today who needed to go through BS-21 last night and that would give them the chance.

LaLa - I got my ribbons today and they are gorgeous!!!  THANK YOU!!!

We are now the next group to have PIR!!!  "I'm so excited I just can't hide it!!!!"  LOL!!  I know everyone around here thinks I'm nuts singing that to myself and dancing around the house but who cares we are SOOOOO close now!!  Here's to hoping that everyone makes it thru this next week!!!!

Vuke's Mom, I wish he had too!  They have performed at the last two PIRs plus their own next week.

If a Division had Battle Stations yesterday, wouldn't they have Called Yesterday?
