This group is for those with loved ones who had PIR on 10/07/2011. (PIR is short for Pass-in-Review and just means graduate from Boot Camp.)
It was an amazing ceremony, an amazing opportunity to see our Sailors perform and participate as an entire group, amazing to hear that wonderful Liberty call and completely overwhelming to get those long awaited hugs.
It is our desire that this Group will provide the information, encouragement, and support you need while your loved one continues their Navy Journey. We are hoping you will continue to come back and update everyone on that journey and continue to seek support and encouragement from friends you have already made here.
Enjoy your time here and feel free to Comment and join in the Discussions. Be sure to check out the information in the "Pages" section to the right. This is information that will be of interest to all Members. (You will need to click on "View All" to see all of them.)
Please review the Community Guidelines and keep OPSEC in mind when you post. If you would not want an enemy to know something, then do not post it here because this is NOT a secure site and the enemy lurks. Please do not post your Sailor's last name and NEVER his/her full name. Also do not use your full name, especially if your last name is the same as your Sailor's. jbsgirl-
loved your comment!
Kathy, PIR should definitely be a formal thing and the Sailors do need to hear the instructions. I remember my PIR and there was quite a lot of yelling and screaming of names and such and it is super distracting when you are trying to focus and maintain military bearing and do what is needed to be done. That is just my opinion of it.
Mooselover....exactly! It is a formal military event.....I know we are all excited for our Sailors....but there should be a certain level of decorum and respect.
Mary, yes that is a very sombering thought. As the time grows closer, I can't help but to think about the fact that my husband, myself and next week it is my daughter's turn. We will all have walked through those doors and stood in that drill hall (I am not sure if they rebuilt the drill hall when they rebuilt everything but you know what I mean) with our divisions. It is a very proud moment as a Sailor and I get teary eyed just thinking about my daughter going through that next week. I cannot even begin to explain how I am feeling about her becoming a Sailor and following in our footsteps. This is something she has wanted to do all of her life and now she is doing it. Proud doesn't even begin to cover how I am feeling about her!!!!! She is amazing as are all of our soon to be Sailors (some of them might already be)! I know that our group will keep in mind the significance of PIR and we will allow our Sailors to hear the instructions that they really do need to hear. Yes they practice for this but when it is the real thing, it is much different. Let's make our Sailors as proud of us as we are of them!
HI Everyone, I'm a bit of an orphan lol, my SR has had a few set backs so will not participate in PIR. Anyway my question is, which divisions went through Battle Stations Last night?
I would like to know when the "I'm a Sailor" Calls start. My SR went through last night.and I didn't sleep a wink.
