Welcome to all Anticipating PIR 10/7/2011!!

This group is for those with loved ones who had PIR on 10/07/2011. (PIR is short for Pass-in-Review and just means graduate from Boot Camp.)

It was an amazing ceremony, an amazing opportunity to see our Sailors perform and participate as an entire group, amazing to hear that wonderful Liberty call and completely overwhelming to get those long awaited hugs.

It is our desire that this Group will provide the information, encouragement, and support you need while your loved one continues their Navy Journey. We are hoping you will continue to come back and update everyone on that journey and continue to seek support and encouragement from friends you have already made here.

Enjoy your time here and feel free to Comment and join in the Discussions. Be sure to check out the information in the "Pages" section to the right. This is information that will be of interest to all Members.  (You will need to click on "View All" to see all of them.)

Please review the Community Guidelines and keep OPSEC in mind when you post. If you would not want an enemy to know something, then do not post it here because this is NOT a secure site and the enemy lurks. Please do not post your Sailor's last name and NEVER his/her full name. Also do not use your full name, especially if your last name is the same as your Sailor's. If your Sailor provides specific information about events that will occur, please keep that to yourself and do not post the day/time on here since this information may be sensitive and is not to be shared.

NukeMom:  The illnesses there have always been....no matter what they try, the germs abound.  Even those who normally don't get sick...get sick (like my son).  Thankfully, he wasn't sick for long....but all seem to get something at some point...please keep us posted on what happens.

ok I spoke to my son, He told me that on weekends they don't allow calls. he stated that there are 84 guys in one room and when they get sent to sick bay and get better they go back and get sick all over again. He told me he had th worse kind of Sinus infection you can have. He also stated that strep is going around. They asked him if he wanted to be pushed back in graduation or return at a later date. he said he would rather come back later and not stay there and keep getting sick. He has never been sick like that and who knows what is going around. I heard some others are out sick so who knows.

I understand how he feels but they really need to disinfect the area. otherwise others will go home. Very sad But I have to go with what he wants right now. And I know i wouldn't want to be sick all the time.. I will let you know more as I get info. Waiting on him going to get decision on condition as to what will happen now. Thanks for your Prayers. I will be praying for all the SR's that they get better.

You got it VukesMom.  Never fun to hear that kind of news.  Hopefully he is all better and you will be getting another letter in the next couple of days telling you how great he feels!  :-)  Hang in there mom.

YIKES-you added "yet"

I'm so hoping and praying that since his letter was dated the 12, that he is getting better.

Please, send prayers up for him..

Any time their PIR date changes, they have to call you.  So no call means he has not been asmoed (setback) ....yet.

If he were on medical hold, would they have called us?
Comment by diannep on September 19, 2011 at 11:52am
Vuke'sMom:  Glad he is not on medical hold...sounds like they are just giving him some SIQ days to get well--and he can catch up in training.  Hoping that the rest/IV do the trick!

Nuke Mom 11, I am so sorry to hear about this.  I hope you hear from your son today, and I hope he is coping with this OK as well.  I know there is group on N4M specifically for SRs going through medical holds and being sent home.  Maybe you could search that out for more information and support.  I'm sure there is information that will be important to you both.  You and your son are in our prayers.  Keep us posted on how it turns out, we'll be thinking about you.

Got a letter from my SIR on Saturday, dated Sept 12. Said he has been very sick, (he's ship 3-DIV335) Hasn't eaten in 3 days and they hooked him up to an IV. He didn't say anything about being on a medical hold. Told me not to worry, that he would be ok. He mentioned wht his orders were which makes me think eventhough he's sick, he's still on track. I'm going with the "no news is good news"......

Nuke Mom - I am so sorry to hear the news about your SR.  I hope that the situation isn't too serious.  I will be praying for him!
