Encouraged by a facebook post from one of my sons good friends that is in Nuke school (went thru bc Aug/Sept). Love this kid!
Hey Mrs. ----! We were talking about boot camp in class today and it made me think of what yall are going through. The first two weeks suck, but after that its all down hill and you'll be getting phone calls and letters more then you expect. I hope youre doing alright, if you have any questions just ask away. Hooyah 021.
Welcome Craig and the other NEW members to PIR 12-29-11. btw Craig, I needed to laugh out loud this morning and your post did just that!
HAVE A WONDERFUL WACKY WEDNESDAY EVERYONE!
natalie'smom: Just so you know...the mail is held from them for the first 2 weeks of bootcamp. This is so that the Recruit Mail Petty Officer can be trained. Many times, the first letters to you from the SRs say: Why haven't you written? Families get upset because many have written alot by then. Now you know the reason...the letters are THERE but have not been delivered yet. They usually receive them on a Sunday, 2 weeks after they have arrived. That is usually when they are first allowed to write too.
Also, we recommend that all wait for the form letter address before mailing letters. Some get an address from the recruiters and use that to write immediately. But sometimes the recruiters' addresses are incorrect. Mail will still get there, but may take longer. So if you still want to write to the address supplied by the recruiter, be sure to check it with the form letter address once you receive that. Probably best to write your letters, have them all ready to mail, and slap on the form letter address when it arrives, mailing all the same day. The SRs consider mail like "Christmas morning" and love to receive lots of letters are once!
Gcip: Depending on what her "job" is with the 900 group, she could be performing at her PIR. Some of the members of the 900 divisions are behind-the-scenes workers though. They also participate in PIRs prior to their own.
On those expecting to receive their SR's phones back in the box, be sure to check their shoes. They usually separate the phone/battery and put them separately in their shoes.
Good morning, all. I'm another N4Moms veteran mom here, like Betsy and FTLW, joining to help you all. I'm sure that Sandy and Lala will be along soon, in addition to other N4Moms veterans who are ready to help! This is an exciting journey for you!
Good to see Craig on here...retired Navy with lots of info!
Hey all,
Just wanted to wish you guys well on your journey through boot camp. Much like the veteran moms that are here to help you guys along, I'm also here to help you.
Yea, I'm a guy and sometime the Estrogen enriched area is overwhelming but I can handle it.... but I do have great news, I saved a bunch of money on car insurance by switching to Geico....
Arnavmom, I know what you mean about reading the envelope and looking at my recruits handwriting. I have read her note over again several times. I almost lost it on my husband when I thought he misplaced it. You are right it is not just like sending your child off to college....Not even close
You all have been very supportive and I look forward to the weeks to come with the support from everyone...
