Adopt a Sailor is only for Dec 2 and 16th graduates. This group will not be eligible for the Thanksgiving one but COULD be eligible for the Christmas one! They said they will send out information about it!

@ jajajo - yes, they will be finished with BC as the PIR is 12-29-11 however they may be eligible for Adopt a Sailor Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Comment by Jajajo on October 31, 2011 at 10:42pm
Won't they be done with BC after the 29th though?

@ jajajo -

I am sharing from FTLW (somewhat of a veteran at this!)

This was posted today on RTC FB.

 Holidays during basic training

QUESTION - my son will be in bootcamp during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Will he have any off-base liberty? Will training be longer?

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command

The only recruits who will be granted off-base liberty for the holidays are those recruits who are eligible for the Adopt-A-Sailor programs held on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Families will have the opportunity to pick up their recruits in the morning, stay within 50 miles of the base, and return them in the evening.

Otherwise, it's business as usual in boot camp and the recruits will be on holiday routine from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. on both holidays.

Thank you for the welcome :)  I have joined this group and the 12/16/11 PIR group until I get my son's letter.  Hopefully tomorrow.  He arrived late night on the 24th early morning 25th.  Since the PIR is 12/29 will the recruits get leave time since it is right before the New Year's weekend?  Aren't most training centers still on stand down for the holiday's?
