Oh, LaLa...so beautiful!
Betsy dear...thinking of you and all your news...can't type much more...sorry!
Actually...I just realized it is afternoon! I am afraid I am more sick (am going to doctor today) and just [plain didn't notice as I got up just a little while ago...so it is "morning" for me!
So, I am SIQ and LLD! HA! ...but not so ha...I miss being on as much. I am working on the next PIR group so my energies will be more focused there for a few days...I know you are in VERY capable hands with dianne, Betsy and LaLa...as these were the very same ladies who got ME through BC and PIR! Also, JessicaB and Sandy.
I know you thank us but I thank all of you because being "with" you...I get just as much back.
I'll be reading and checking in! Not much could keep me away form you all!
Blessings to you,
FTLW
Hello Folks!
Well…our Seabee son is home! Hubby flew out to watch the ceremony and bring him home. I was able to book hubby on the same flight as our son. Both my men are reservists. He wasn’t able to go to PIR as he was in Iraq. I am thankful he was able to go to “A” school grad…it was a very nice ceremony and he wore his dress uniform (AF).
The graduation was on Pearl Harbor Day. (Ironically, that was the result of the formation of the Seabees…civilian contractors had been used to build up until the U.S. officially entered the war.) Then they flew home that day. He had to report to his duty station the next day so they just drove out and spent the night there. He is now tucked away on the couch with his favorite dog (who is VERY happy to see him) and relaxing.
It’s been eight months since he left for Boot Camp...so thankful he finished and finished well…his whole class made honor student.
Here is a drawing my other son did for a poster we made for him…(yeah it’s an M-16 not a Thompson…but when he did a search on his iPad I think he got a really old picture of a Seabee! LOL)
Hi ladies, sorry I was MIA yesterday. I took my mother Christmas shopping and that's an all adventure because my mother is in a wheelchair. I will try to catch up on my reading on here later tonight because unfortunately I am now heading to a funeral because my sister in law's mom just died. She was 89.
Tonight my youngest daughter flies home from college for her winter break, so I'm excited about that.
I finally heard from my sailor yesterday and his Christmas leave was approved. I spent last night trying to find a flight from him. They were all at least $700-$800 from Pensacola to Maryland. As a last resort, I did the Priceline Name Your Own Price, (which I've never done before) and I put in my bid of $350 and they accepted it. He will arrive home on 12/17/11, which is exactly one year after he graduated from BC. What an awesome day for his homecoming. We will have him until 12/26, so I'm happy mom today.
Thank you Dianne. I will call them. We are thrilled he is taking leave. Going in arrears about 4 days but he is okay with that. He doesn't report to A school until 1/9. We want to fly him the Saturday prior to...
Hmmmm, ArNavyMom: So, your SR has been approved to have leave between bootcamp and A School? It is unusual to have leave between those two, but maybe with the holidays...the A Schools are granting some.
What RTC normally does is provide transporation from GL to the A School. Anything beyond that is on "his dime." You may want to call the Public Affairs Office about this one, because I'm not sure. Once they are done with RTC, they are under their A School rules, so leave usually is approved by the A School, I believe.
Call the PAO and discuss with them:

Good morning! Such GREAT news from recruits Ruth and Momsdivided. Not heard from mine this week but confident he is doing well.
QUESTION for veteran mom's -
My recruit is taking leave and submitted travel plans that we are driving him to San Antonio. We want to fly him there instead. He doesn't know that yet though. Will that pose a problem with GL or where he reports for "A" school? What do I do?
