diannep - This is what I think....

Let me ask you...  When a sailor is on a ship, which saying would get them to pay attention?

  • Seaman Recruit Jones can you please come here and shoot down the missile that is coming at us?
  • Seaman Recruit Jones get your @ss over here and shoot down that MF missile or our @ is grass.

I know I would really appreciate the CO if he used option #2.  Just to protect my @.

-----------------

With that said, you do realize that we still have a captured commissioned U.S. Navy warship still in the hands of the enemy? It's the only one.  The USS Pueblo.  Now, do you think it was appropriate for the sailor to give "the bird" to their captures?  HELL YES!  I will not bow down to the enemy.  Much like them, I would also give them the bird....  It's the Navy way....  Some civilians can try to limit our freedom of speech, however, we are here to defend it!  Just saying....

I think I may post something I wrote for the deppers on my website about the USS Pueblo.  This will give Ruth another story to tell her 6th grader....  Ruth, you go girl!!!!  You promote the Navy to those kids.... Let them know, "We will never forget".....

@Momshousedivided2

I read on the RTC FB page that they try their very hardest to deliver mail before giving up and that usually it just gets delayed a week or two, but gets there!

It may still get to him...sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.

I am gonna have to do some double time and get some letters sent tomorrow. He sounds really happy and doing great. It really is amazing in what little they can write we can really decipher and know what they are feeling.  Nighty Night y'all! see ya in the AM with another quote.

Craig:  Some of us moms want to change the "salty" image of sailors...i.e., no more cursing!  What do ya think?   :-)

Thanks for the prayers, FTLW.  Very much appreciated!
