Lala, so sorry that you can't order the dog statue. I'm wondering if anyone else carries it? I got a really cute black lab one similar to this one...with a WELCOME sign. Found it at my Cracker Barrel down here when my son was home after A School (he bought it for me for Mothers Day). They had no more of them after we purchased mine, tried to order online for my nephew and they were gone there too. Guess they just don't stock enough dog statues for us dog lovers! I think I would do a "google" search to see if anyone else has them.
adrienne: I agree with Lala. They will all get in. And, like she said, yes...get there early! We took the shuttle and left the hotel at 6:30, arriving in PIR Hall a few minutes after 7. I would definitely plan to get there between 7-7:30, but you all should be fine. Maybe a couple will have to wait for a little while to get in, but should get in.
TenaciousDee, good for you. I hope you post a picture of the flags. I'd love to see them.
marcy, Yay, take pictures when you are finished.
adrienne, even with large PIR groups, like this one, it's usually no problem getting in extra people. Many Sr's won't use all of their spaces, so you can ask if someone didn't use up their spaces. They will seat people on the list first, but after they are seated, there is almost always room for extras. (I've never heard of a situation where extras were not allowed to enter) They will just wait a little bit and then will be allowed to enter the hall. I wouldn't worry.
I really don't think it will be a problem to get in your extra guest. They have enough room for 14 or more DIV's to have four guests each. There are Sailors who won't have anyone come and a lot who only have 1, 2, or 3. We had 13 DIV's and we took 4 extra guests. They all got in and they didn't have to wait because we got there pretty early. We left the Navy Lodge at 6:30 am and were in the PIR hall in our seats by 7:30 (we drove) Just get in line as early as possible and you should be fine. It is possible that the extra guest may have to wait until right before the ceremony to get in but just sit far enough apart to save room for the extra guest when they get in there. You can also write him a letter and ask him if he has a friend there who has an extra spot on their list. If they do he will need to give you their first and last name and DIV number.
leftwayleft- so does that basically mean that I need to get there like super early? Do you know how that works? Is it after everyone that is on all of the SR's lists are seated that they will let others in if needed? I would have 2 extras...
Help!? I'm getting really nervous because there are 6 in my family not including my 5 year old since she doesn't count as far as getting in to PIR.......I have already purchased all of the tickets.....do you think that we will all be able to get in? How do I find out? My youngest is 15 will she need to be on the list also...??
Betsy, that is too funny! You know at the Surplus store they have potholders, dish towels and apron! Oh and the flags look beautiful outside! Perfect...I already took a picture to send to my son.
No luck, it is not available here, where my Sailors lives in VA or in the part of Fl we are going to :-( and they won't ship it. Too bad.
I tried that a few weeks ago when our facebook group first found them and they are not available to do that to our area. But I am gonna go on there and see if I can order it and have it sent to my sister-in-law in FL. Then I can get it when we are there for vacation :-)
tatmom, now that is funny. Does he think there won't be anyone else wearing a Navy Mom shirt? lol there will be hundreds :-)
love all the photos - and my hubby thinks I am crazy ordering a navy shirt for me to wear to PIR - he is worried that I will embarrass him.
