Carol:  He added a "hotspot" to his iPhone, and 4 gb of "whatever" so he can connect his laptop to a wireless connection, also some other "thinga majigy" to it. (He is a computer geek). So that was the additional cost and then taxes on top of it. He is setting up an allottment to come to us to put towards his portion of the bill, which was HIS idea, and very responsible of him I think.

His orders are for the CVN Carl Vinson, San Diego. I am excited he will be fairly close to home (2 comfotable days driving or 90 minute flight). Looks like he will only have a few days between school and duty station. I am already planning on spending my birthday (January) in San Diego if he is not out at sea.

Well whatever you guys change it to I will be there.  I really only have you guys here that truly understand what Navy moms and our kids are going through.  No other of my friends have military family members.  (It is still hard for me to believe that I do at times).  It is a whole different world I must say.  My daughter is in Mass Communications and it is a small rate.  Their N4M group not too active.

Might I just say that Tide sticks and bleach pens are a wonderful invention?  My daughter sat on something that may have been charcoal and the tide pen followed by a little bleach pen totally took it away.  Also helped on some shoe polish she had on cuff.  Was quite worried about "gear drift"  my new favorite phrase  :- )

Just dropped my child at the base. All was well until I got a call saying he left his dogtags in the hotel. I had to run them back out to him! He didn't get in any trouble! Thank God! I think he just wanted to stress me out one more time!! Gotta love our kids! Didn't someone say they might be responsible young men and women now but they still need their mama's!!!

Thanks Kathyann for the info. I just got a call from him and he just had his bag delivered. Kathyann, how is it $80 for an iPhone on your plan? If we keep our son onour plan and just upgrade to a smartphone for him, its only about $35 with the taxes. that's for unlimited data, talk and text...

There is a group for those who have sailors in Pensacola... I changed my profile name to NewMexicoMom from luvmykid 10/268 in case you're wondering who this is... The Pensacola group has some good info about the area and links to take a look at.

So my kid got an iPhone. We were in the ATT store for almost 2 hours! Finally decided to put him on our family plan, with data and unlimited text and mobile to any mobile is also unlimted. He is putting an allotment in place for the $80 to come out of his pay and directly to me to pay his portion. He's been doing pretty good with his budgeting, and figured this weekend was his only "splurge" for quite some time!  Oh, Carol, they will deliver his seabag to his base/School. That is unfortuate that happened, but probably pretty common!

In my March Group we started another Group to follow up and keep in touch with.  I did not make the Meet & Greet, the Hubby and I ended up going in to Chicago and did not get back until late on Thursday.  We got home late last night after spending all day Sat shopping and running errands with our Sailor, he stays in Great Lakes for A School until next May.  Our visit was fantastic.  He has grown up a lot and is a totally diffrent and amazing man now (even dumped the GF that was no good for him as soon as he got his cell phone back!)  Yeah, he said he deserved better!
